Pros: The views and the room.
Cons: The food!!
Location: Day-trip to Koh Phi Phi was beautiful although there were some issues.
Overall I was disappointed with our stay at the Crown Lanta. While the cost of the room was reasonable, the cost of everything else (the food, alcohol etc.) was expensive even by North American standards, let alone by Thai standards. The food was awful to the point of being barely edible, yet very expensive. Although we were told breakfast would be included, we were later charged an exorbitant amount for two people for the buffet style breakfast! Our dinner was likewise expensive yet we didn't even get what we ordered, our steak was cold and the food was generally not very good. The staff, while polite, were unhelpful. I will say that the rooms were beautiful and very clean, and the views from the restaurants were stunning. So altogether the accomodations might be worth the stay so long as you eat off-resort the entire time.

Clean and well maintained resortPosted Oct 6, 2013
I found the staff especially friendly and helpful. Even though it's only 2 min (by motorbike) from the largest town on the island Saladan, it feels secluded and private. View from the cliff bar of the 'secret beach' was great. Food was excellent.

Did not meet expectationsPosted Aug 4, 2013 on Hotels.com
It is not a 4+ hotel, maybe a 3. Somewhat older, the only thing that was cool was having the pool outside your room. Service was good, but they were a little rude and dismissive. Also, their English was VERY limited which made it hard to communicate.

Enjoyable StayPosted Jul 14, 2013
Pros: Location. Facility.
Location: It is very convenient for scuba diving and snorkeling.
The room we stayed was in front of pool. It was easy to swim and relax in the room. There were shores and beaches but wave was very high when we stayedd. If it were a better season it should have been more enjoyable.

Crown lanta-highly recPosted Apr 13, 2013
Pros: Main pool, comfort, relaxing
Cons: Let down by some maintenance issues, main pool deck needs replacing, towels frayed and some with holes, not really good for 4-5 star hotel
Location: Great location - very private and only 5 min by tuk tuk into town
Off to a bad start, our room was un available due to "admin oversight" (as we're two other couples who were checking in at the same time). Seems they gave our pool access room away to other guests who checked in earlier. It all turned out ok as we were given a similar (and in my opinion a better room near the more popular resort pool) much better ambience and more activity. The resort itsself was fantastic (one of the better ones we have stayed in) not overcrowded, magnificent location, only a short tuk tuk ride into town and overall a very pleasing resort to " unwind and chill out". Staff were great and meals terrific. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel but try and get a delux room near the main pool) you won't be disappointed, 3-4 steps and your in the pool and a fantastic private beach/rock pool. Not much to do at the resort except "chill" but plenty of tour operators in town etc if you want to do activities etc.

Quality ResortPosted Apr 8, 2013 on Hotels.com
The resort itself is great. We had a pool access room and it was wonderful - clean, comfortable with easy swimming access. Some people complain about the resort being on a hill, which is true, but they provide transport from the lobby on request. That makes it easy to get to the main pool/bar and restaurants. I would recommend a stop at the Reggae Bar at sunset for drinks and a nice view. Only drawback was the location... the beach near isn't good and it's a ways to the good restaurants, which requires a tuk-tuk. They have a free shuttle to Saladan, but the food there isn't good. It's worth renting a scooter just to get around to beaches and dinner. All in all, it's a great resort and worth a stay!

two thumbs up!!Posted Mar 10, 2013
Pros: The pools were great and proximity was perfect to the main village.
Cons: Trekking the hill to breakfast everyday but at least we didn't put on weight on our holiday.
Location: The resort is in a perfect location on the island. However the island itself can be a 2-3hr trip from Krabi airport.
We are a young couple who stayed for 7 nights and had a wonderful time. The resort has everything you need, the travel desk was great and organised some great tours, especially the snorkelling tours. The resort is a short tuk tuk ride from the Saladan village which had all your typical Thailand shopping needs and restaurants galore. The resort pools were perfect, we stayed in a pool access room which was spectacular. The resort food was always good and the poolside bars had some delicious cocktails however the resort prices are much higher than the main town. We only have one criticism of the resort, its spread over a hillside so we needed to trek up the hill (not to the light hearted) for breakfast, access to the other pool, restaurant and the beach access point. The resort does offer a golf buggy shuttle if you contact reception to transfer you around the resort.
