“Great Guest House”
Made us feel very welcome...tea on arrival! Lots of information provided on things to see and do. Places to eat that were recommended, proved to be good value for money as well as good food. The hotel is an old building which has lots of character...including the owner who has little English. That apart, the breakfasts were feasts in themselves with plenty to eat and always beautifully presented. Would highly recommend this hotel as it is conveniently located near the main railway station - 10 mins walk.
“A true Polish gem”
My partner and I visited Krakow for the second time at the end of October and I booked the Piano guest house through Expedia. I have never written a hotel review before but we were so impressed that we wanted to share this with others! The owner (who spoke French) was incredibly friendly and couldn't do enough to make us welcome and inform us about special events going on in Krakow - we felt that we really saw an insider's view of Poland this time. Rooms beautifully furnished and spotlessly clean. Breakfast plenttiful and tasty. Area a little way out but still only 15-20 minutes' walk from Rynek Glowny. Taxis also only about £3-4. A fabulous stay, thank you
“All I'd hoped for.”
Clean, comfortable room, excellent breakfast with far more than I could eat, very helpful and friendly landlady. It's true that the location of the guest house isn't pretty (though it has a certain character) but it's VERY close to the train and coach stations and an easy short walk to the old city. The landlady speaks fluent French but only halting English (though her son is fluent in English) and was very interesting to talk to. Her recommended places to eat authentic Polish food at good prices were spot on. When I and other guests were hit by the Icelandic volcano and unable to fly home she immediately promised to find room for all of us and was prepared to do this free of charge though I did in fact pay her as her booked guests had been unable to make it. Strongly recommended.
“Polish hospitality at its best”
When you first arrive DO NOT be put off by the surrounding area and proximity to the railway station and road . When the door opens you are greeted with extreme friendliness and walk into a little oasis of calm and charm. The rooms are decorated in a tastefull antique style and the buffet breakfast is varied and charmingly presented. The owner and her family do all they can to make your stay perfect. I would reccomend this littlel guest house, within walking distrance of the old town, to anyone visitng the wonderful city of Krakow.
“Fantastic!”
A great place to go! Clean, comfortable rooms, a short walk from the main station complex with knowledgeable owners who really do know the city. Right, let me get the bad things out of the way first. The area surrounding the location is a bit dumpy, but as it is just a place to crash, this is not a problem. Now for the rest. A wonderful welcome, good breakfasts, all located in a great building which has been wonderfully restored. The owners will really go out of their way to make sure your stay is comfortable, and the information they provide on Krakow and the surrounding area makes this a great base. They really do know what they are talking about and if not, they will look it up, everything from train times to opening hours of local churches. And for the price, it is well worth it! I cannot recommend this place enough, one of the best guest houses I have stayed in. If I ever go back to Krakow, I will stay here again - now that is a recommendation!
“FANTASTIC”
My boyfriend and I have just returned from a wonderful stay at the Piano Guest House. On our arrival we were warmly greeted with tea and cakes and were given a full run down on the best places to eat and drink...and they were all great recommendations. Breakfast was lovely; served in the quaint dining room with a lovely garden view. We arrived at the train station (straight from the airport) and it was really easy to get to the hotel. Just head to the end of the platform and down turning right through the underpass. cross the road and turn left for around 3 minutes and the Piano hotel is on your right (the one with the window boxes). It is not the most celubrious area but it is a lovely hotel with a friendly warm atmosphere and we had a fantastic room with a true power shower. It takes around 5 minutes to walk to the brand new shopping mall and less than 15mins to walk to the main sqaure. If you are after room service city centre posh hotels then I would say this isn't for you. If you want somewhere that feels like the true Poland then definitely give this place a go, especially during warmer weather when you can have breakfast in the garden.
“A welcoming unusual place to stay”
This hotel has the feel of a guest house - intimate and welcoming. We were given tea, cake and lots of information about Krakow when we arrived, including how to find certain museums, a range of restaurants and the best way to walk into the city centre. It is situated on the 'wrong side' of the railway tracks but we never felt the subway was a problem at night - the area was very quiet. Our room was clean and the beds if not new were comfortable although after all our walking I would have slept well on most mattresses! Breakfast was an excellent buffet with a range of cold meat, soft cheeses, salad and gherkins as well as breads and jams. Because we had to leave for the airport, we were given breakfast early - our hostess (who did not seem to have any other help for the 3 days we were there) would hear of us going without a small petit dejeuner! We would stay there again if (when) we revisit.
“Fantastic and comfortable budget hotel!”
We were looking for a cheap but convenient place to stay in Krakow and happened upon the Piano Guest House. While it took a little finding at first, and the area surrounding the hotel is not the most attractive (it is just behind a main road out of the city and the overall block is a tad dilapidated), we can have absolutely no complaints about the hotel. Inside, it is clean, spacious and attractive and, despite the close proximity of road and railway, quiet. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and the breakfast spread was fantastic- fresh breads, cheese, ham, jams, fruit, tea, juice etc. The staff were very friendly and helpful and made sure my partner and I had a fantastic stay. I could not recommend the Piano Guest House more, and all for such a low price!
“Don't be put off by its proximity to the railway line & cemetary”
Chose this guest house because of its price & location relative to the Old Town. When I located it on arrival in Krakow I initally thought I had not chosen well having to cross a major road & rail intersection. However once I was told about the underpass & route through the shopping centre I decided its location was perfect - only 15 mins walk to get to the the Old Town where you will find all the main tourist sights. The guest house itself is homely, cosy & clean with a small garden outside the breakfast room. Madame greeted me with a smile plus a cup of tea & cake - a lovely touch -which i hoped boded well for the breakfast fare. I was not disappointed - whilst I am not especially fond of continental style, cold meat & cheese breakfasts - the selection of food here every morning was par excellence, always nicely presented & always included cake! The only thing I missed having was tea-making facilities in my room but that aside I was overall very pleased with my selection, have no hesitation in recommending to anyone & would certainly pay a repeat visit if only to say thanks again to madame for her hospitality.
“A good Polish experience.”
A rose among the thorns and lovely. We had a front room, which was a bit noisy because of the traffic, but a lovely garden and good breakfast. Really a unique B&B.
