Hotel was very Russian but that was nice vs chain western hotel. Good location near Metro stops and also near Kremlin and Red Square. Staff english was limited but did the trick. The "garden" area in the hotel is great and was nice for a beer and light dinner. Staff very helpful when we needed to leave bags and have a shower before a late departure.

Difficult to find entrance but this is a utilitarian business hotel next to Lukoil headquarters and subway, walking distance to Kremlin, Red Square, GUM. Staff was lacking in English but pleasant and I was able to get by. Breakfast was an excellent buffet and they had an excellent business lunch at a good price.
The room was small and needed updating but was comfortable. Seemed like a good value.

Having had some experience in old soviet style apartments I wasn't expecting much, but the hotel was a great surprise. Nice large rooms, kitchen and large living room. Furnishing was pretty good, and the kitchen had a washing machine! The Russian breakfast was a treat. Two 24 hour small super markets on the street a block or two away (no alcohol for sale past 11pm).
Note, even though the metro station is about a 10 minute walk away, rather catch a taxi from the Airport Express train station or from the airport itself. Remember to haggle the price beforehand. If the taxi driver puts you on the clock you'll pay dearly. Also, when checking out, do not take the metro, you will be marked as an easy target with your luggage. Rather spend the additional cash on a taxi to the airport (again remember to haggle the price.) We negotiated 1700 rubles, but we had a Russian speaker and we used an unmarked taxi.

I had a big shock in that hotel when upon my arrival and settling down in the room they told me to leave because my room was not paid for. I was very surprised and bewildered since just a day before I booked 1 day in it through Expedia with my credit card. And here they are telling me that they don`t accept credit card payments online - it only serves as a confirmation of the booking. But it was not indicated anywhere on the site and if it was- then in a very-very tiny print. In any case I was asked to pay again - cash or to leave the premises. And I did the latter. Promising to let others know of these funny rules... On top of everything, they asked me to bring a print-out of my booking just the moment I arrived- even seeing how exhausted I was. They didn`t have a printer in the reception hall- so I had to run like a crazy one around the whole neighborhood in a terribly windy and far from cozy weather in search of a print shop. I was able to find it only after 15-20 minutes of wandering around. So that`s the warm hospitality this hotel gave me. (:
