“Clean, excellent location, fabulous staff, slightly rough edges”
I was looking for something better than a ultra-budget hotel, but didn't want to spend the money for anything fancy. Citin was a perfect choice. It was clean and the staff was extremely friendly and quite helpful. The location is great too, as it's located close to the Masjid Jamek light rail station and Chinatown and Petaling St are both an easy walk away. The breakfast offerings were solid - nothing exciting, but also nothing to complain about.
Some people may be put off by a slightly rough exterior. Sure, there are fixtures that have seen a few too many seasons, some minor paint fixes, and a few other things. But for me, these were all cosmetic issues not worth worrying about. If they spent the money to fix every little thing that needed a little help, then the price would go up and I probably wouldn't stay there. And don't get me wrong - it's not run down, it's just a bit rough around the edges.
One other item of note: when I booked it, I was under the impression that there was high speed internet access in each room. There is not. A couple computers are wired and ready to use in the cafe (when it's open) and there is wi-fi on the first couple floors. Otherwise, there's an internet "cafe" ("attic") down the street, and many other places around town from which you can surf.
Overall, I felt like I got exactly what I was looking for at the price I wanted to pay. KL is a great city and I plan to stay at Citin when I return.
Cheers!
