“Third stay”

This hotel has a good location for day and night proximity to the city attractions. The service levels are generally ok but not acceptable that on two occasions a 5 star hotel is not able to fix a broken toilet door. The public areas are well appointed but the rooms are dated and feel 'tired'. Overall it's good value for money but with the high levels of competition from nearby 5 star hotels, you may want to shop around if you want a new feel in the rooms.

“Nader”

This was our second stay at Istana. It is a great location and a very good hotel. We like it as it is not a standard hotel chain and offers something a bit different.

“Stay here if you are in KL centre”

Good hotel in every aspect. Because they had a deal on, we booked a club room. Great decision as the saving on executive breakfast and early evening drinks is very cost effective.

We stayed at Istana for 3 days shopping, sightseeing, clubbing, then moved to the Saujana for 3 days golf and R & R. Very enjoyable. If you want to go to the Petronas Towers, get there early before 7.45 !!

“One of the best hotels in the world.”

You can expect the most attentive services from the employees. Unfortunately, the bathtub faucet had to be serviced, so we could not use the bathtub for the first night. Two lightbulbs had to be replaced, but they were all serviced reasonably quickly. We had to ask for memo-pads and envelopes each time we needed. Internet connection charges were a little more than we expected.

The city center: the location is right in the center of the city, very conveniently located to the major shopping centers.

Must see

Pavillion Shopping Mall, a 5 minute walk from the hotel, is impressive.

“Wonderful stay in KL”

The Hotel Istana was a wonderful experience. The trip was my first to Kuala Lumpur and to the Hotel Istana. I didn't realize when booking on the Club floors, but guests on those floors have personalized service, including check-in and check-out and breakfast, in the Club Lounge. The service staff was wonderful, very helpful and friendly and the facilities were comfortable. Plus, the hotel is located across the street from a monorail station making for easy travel around the city, and it is two blocks from the Bukit Bintang area. I would definitely go back again.

The Golden Triangle area is an excellent location for exploring the downtown area and its sites.

Getting around

Public transit is good in Kuala Lumpur allowing for easy travel around the city and to sites on the periphery of the city. Wherever you stay, be sure to locate near a train/monorail stop.

“Great Location and Good Hotel”

The Hotel was Fine, Room service was good. Probably need more channels on the TV. The noise of vacuuming could be heard from the other room, not that loud though.
