A Gem of the East CoastPosted Oct 22, 2013
I came to know of this resort from my friends whom have stayed there before. The name was mentioned several times from others as well till the time I decided I need a weekend getaway from the city. I researched the place from TripAdvisor and other sources and booked for a good deal on their Bumbung room (true to its name, it's located at the top floor of a 2 storey built-up). When I first arrived, me and my partner was given a greetings by a whole line of staffs on duty and the "Gong". I was even greeted by my name and was ushered in to be seated while they attend to my check-in. My car was driven to the car park and key returned to me right after. Welcome drinks and explanation of resort facilities and eateries are given on the spot so that I'm aware. I'm impressed. We were taken to our rooms which was already cold as aircon was switched on before we came in. This was a relief. Our room is at the top floor of a 2 storey built-up and was both big and comfortable. Though it was 2 storey, the entrance to the ground unit is on the otherside totally ensuring privacy for occupant at the top and bottom. Great design. Bathroom with basin for him and her, large bathtub, separate WC and shower room. I'm already impressed halfway. Bedroom is large comfortable and aircon is super powerful and can be controlled to bring tempreature to a comfort level quickly. Overall, quiet, friendly, beautiful and private resort for a romantic getaway and I highly recommend it. Love the hospitality!

Luxurious resort directly on the beach.Posted Oct 15, 2013
Pros: Beach, room, Nelayan restaurant (mostly for the chef).
Cons: Not much
Location: Had a great snorkeling trip with the resorts own boat and guides. Fabulous coral and a school of small black tip sharks.
Beautiful beach, cleaned every morning. Small hotel so few guests using beach or pool at the same time. Frequently felt like we had the place to ourselves. Very spacious room with a fabulous bathroom. At night we went to sleep with the sound of the waves. The food was very good but there are only 2 restaurants and there is little choice of western food. The chef at the smaller restaurant (Nelayan) would cook something special off the menu every night if asked. It was always very delicious. Fabulous if you enjoy fish cooked Asian way. The Spa is excellent. We had a couples session and it was so nice to be able to talk to each other during our massage. We've been to resorts in North America, the Caribbean, Europe and Asia. This is certainly the best we've had.

What a pleasant surprise!Posted Jul 21, 2013 on Hotels.com
As we drive down towards the hotel, we saw cows walking along the road and the 'kampungs' , we really didn't know what to expect from the resort. And what a pleasant surprise it is to be driving into a hotel where we are greeted by friendly staff and especially an old Malay uncle who was so charmingly smiling broadly when he saw us driving, we forgot how tired we were from traveling when we saw that smile. The rooms are so well decorated and lovely. It's spacious, well maintained and the traditionally built wooden rooms wins me over completely. Service was also very good. People were always friendly and quick to help. The lush green garden facing the ocean is just another factor what made us such happy holiday makers. Breakfast was served well, even the chef himself was explaining about the Malay traditional food and offered us some other food which is off the buffet. There was even a traditional 'kompang' show during breakfast. The restaurant is built over a river and there you can look out to the sea. It's just awesomely beautiful. Unforgettable experience, top of our places where we would definitely go back again when possible.

Excellent but needs a bit more attention to detailPosted Jan 20, 2013
Pros: The pool
Cons: The food
Location: Dirty waters from a river, tar from shipping, sand beach a bit dirty. Not pristine.
The shore needs some serious looking after, tar from shipping and plastic bags and other debris were present on a daily basis. The river that cuts across the hotel is also quite dirty. If places like this one wish to continue their eco tourism greater efforts are needed. Excellent swimming pool and amicable staff.

Perfect getaway.Posted Jul 30, 2012 on Hotels.com
An excellent short stay - rooms were large, luxurious and immaculate. Facilities were excellent with a separate adults only pool. The spa offered a good range of treatments and the restaurants were well staffed and provided very good food. The beach facilities were great and cold water being brought to the loungers was an unexpected and very welcome bonus. Good quality trips were available (eco river cruise and turtle watching) and Chef Ann conducted an excellent tour to the market. Her cookery masterclass taught me two great recipes which I have already prepared now we're home. Highly recomended and we are already planing our next trip.

A gorgeous setting with a warm and attentive staffPosted Jul 18, 2012 on Hotels.com
We went on our honeymoon to the Tanjong Jara. We stayed five nights. It was a dream. The rooms are very spacious, but the best part is definitely the beach and the grounds. The hotel staff goes out of their way to make you happy, always with a smile, and kind words. We highly recommend dinner on the beach or in the gazebo by the pool. We also loved cooking with Ann, the chef at the Malaysian restaurant. Enjoy your stay!

I can't say enough about this place...book it now! We stayed in an Anjung Room, took sunrise swims on a peaceful beach, and had one of our best holidays ever. The staff were amazing, food was tasty, room was wonderful, and we hated to leave. Do note that all of your meals will most likely be done on premises and the liquor (especially the wine) is not cheap. Take the advice I received and go to happy hour for their specials.
