St James at VenicePosted Sep 30, 2013
Pros: Comfortable, well kept and conviniently located. Breakfast was very good!
Cons: Service to rooms should try and replace used toiletries (towels, shower cap, etc) and provisions such as milk, tea, etc
Location: St James is located a short walk to areas with lots of restaurants and places to chill out. It is also a walking distance from the beach (15 mins)
Apart from the mix up with my reservation, I found the hotel staff very professional and helpful. The rooms were clean, comfortalble and reasonably spacious. The hotel is located a walking distance from the beach area and in a quiet suburb of Durban.

Friendly hotel (minor imperfections - like home!)Posted Jun 4, 2013
Pros: The staff and the enormous bed.
Cons: Slight smell of damp in the room.
Location: Very convenient for my purposes - close to my parent's home.
The building is a lovely old Durban home with a welcoming entrance. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. My room was spacious, had everything I needed, wifi was free and the bed was enormous - however the shower was in the room (I've never seen that before) and the room smelled slightly damp. The hotel, although relatively newly decorated, had some areas that could have been decorated to a higher standard and there were small areas that could do with a little bit more maintenance. The breakfast was delicious and it was no problem for them to let me select items from different set breakfasts to put together something I really felt like eating. Nothing was too much trouble for the lovely staff. For me, the positives far outweighed the negatives and I would definitely stay at the St James again.
