“Clean, inexpensive hotel with a couple of perks.”
If you're like me, and are less concerned about bells and whistles at your hotel, and just looking for a relatively nice, inexpensive place to lay your head at night (because you won't be spending much time there anyway), then this is a good hotel for you. The #9 bus from Kyoto station will take you almost directly there (then about a 5 min. walk down the street). The subway is quite a walk, especially if you have luggage. There are several bus stops in the area that will take you anywhere you need to go. Pick up a bus map at Kyoto station. The hotel sells daily bus passes which is a nice convenience. The hotel seems older and in need of renovations, but was clean. The rooms are small, which is to be expected in Japan. The bed and pillow were hard. They have a washer & dryer that I was able to use. It was a little expensive and the clothes weren't even close to dry after an hour. The hotel offers free wi-fi on all floors and free breakfast, both a bonus in Japan. The breakfast was very good & it was nice not to have that expense given the cost of meals in Japan. The staff was very pleasant & helpful. Overall, this hotel offered everything I was looking for: inexpensive, decent location, free food & wi-fi and a clean room to lay my head at night.
