Was so suprised with attitude towards guests herePosted Aug 9, 2014
As myself and husband are teavelling around Japan and staying in many hotels it was a total shock when we arrived here. Staff abrupt, room tiny husband not over tall his feet hung over end of bed .If and when we approached a staff member for information we got handed a map and were left feeling we were just a number not a guest.

Excellent western-style hotel at walking distance from the Imperial Palace, the Gion neighborhood, and the main bus lines going to many of the must-see temples and gardens in Koto.

Small comfortable and clean room in Central KyotoPosted Jul 23, 2014
We chose a economy double room. The room was very small but the double bed was very comfortable. In the room you have a big TV, radio, a fridge, air conditioning and sleepers. The bathroom was on the small side but very clean and it had shampoo, conditioner, body and face soap, toothbrush, a little hairbrush, razor and hair dryer. The hotel is a bit far from Kyoto station (30min walking) but you can take a bus. Once you are settle in the hotel, the location is very convenient, just 5 min walk to the Imperial Palace. We only had 2 small suitcases so the lack of space was not a problem for us. We had a really pleasant stay and we would stay here again in the future.

Fantastic hotel, great value for money.Posted Jun 8, 2014
Pros: The hotel is very close to the train station, only two blocks away from the closest exit which was good considering we had a lot of luggage.
Cons: There are smoking rooms in the hotel and the smoke smell drifted through the air-con when we turned it on. Happened in every hotel we went to though.
Location: There is a really busy street south of the hotel about 4 or 5 blocks away. We found so many shops, places to eat and even live music on one corner.
We really enjoyed our time in Kyoto and in this hotel. Very well presented hotel, lovely big lobby with friendly staff that spoke English well. The room was very clean and comfortable. Our only regret was not finding the main street earlier (Near Daimaru department store). It is south of the hotel about 4 or 5 blocks away.

Close to Subway. Many places in walking distancePosted May 23, 2014 on Hotels.com
Staff was helpful. Had lots of hot water. Everything in working order. Good WiFi. Laundromat on 7th floor. Would have been nice to have more storage space, but was OK. Great French pastery shop nearby. (Grains de Vanille) Go left one block, right one block, left one block and you are almost there.

Very good basic hotelPosted Apr 15, 2014 on Hotels.com
Catch the Karasuma Line train to Karasuma oike Station which is three stations from Kyoto station and hotel is 2 minute walk from Exit 1. The staff at the Hearton Hotel were efficient and polite at reception with quick check in and check out. The hotel was a good basic hotel with an average breakfast included in the tariff. The room was smaller than the hotel we had just stayed in Tokyo for about the same price. There is a seven eleven about 200 metres from the hotel on the main road and a Lawsons across from the seven eleven. I would describe this hotel as a good three star hotel. We were travelling to see the cherry blossoms and were lucky enough to find more in Kyoto than Tokyo. Make sure you see the Shogun's Palace at night during April. Highlight of our stay in Kyoto.

ConvenientPosted Apr 12, 2014 on Hotels.com
We have stayed at this hotel on previous trips to Japan because the staff is friendly and helpful, it is centrally located to many shopping and eating places, it is close to the buses and subways, and it has coin laundry which is a necessity for us. Although the room is not huge, it is clean and comfortable.
