Nice hotel, great access to ShinkansenPosted Feb 11, 2014
Pros: I liked that this hotel was right across the street from the train station. It made our commute to and from Kyoto a pleasant experience.
We stayed for 3 nights. It was within walking distance to some temples but also never more than a 5 minute wait for a cab. Restaurants nearby.

Convenient location in KyotoPosted Jan 14, 2014
Hotel Keihan is a simple and comfy hotel. Convenient for those that want a nice place to sleep. It's location in Kyoto makes travelling to each of the districts really easy. Across the road is the train and around the corner is a bike rental shop for easy navigating around the city(which I recommend). All in all, was a great place to come back to at the end of day or night to a comfy room and bed after seeing the sights and walking and riding plenty!!!

Convenient hotel at a good pricePosted Jan 4, 2014
Pros: Main advantage of the hotel is it's location, although I did try to get to it without going through the railway station and got very lost.
Cons: If you're returning or leaving the hotel, be warned - the lifts take an eternity to arrive. No idea why but they do.
Location: Very handy for major shopping streets and of course buses and trains to rest city. Temples within a ten minute easy walk and you must visit Yodabashi.
On my third stay in Kyoto to date I stayed at Keihan Hotel. An incredibly easy hotel to find from the railway station and for the price hard to fault. Staff who have a basic English knowledge seemed hard to find but all staff cope well.

Excellent location & best value for money in JapanPosted Dec 31, 2013
Pros: Location and value for money
Cons: Room would be nicer with some update and there should not be a smoking area in the reception area.
I originally planned to stay at this hotel for 2 nights and like it that much to come back and stayed 4 more nights in the 2nd week of our trip. The room size is by far the largest we stayed in Japan, bigger than the standard European size room. It's got 2 small double beds and sofa. The hotel is opposite Tokyo station (where you can find lots of foods and shopping). It is so easy to get to if you come via the Shinkansen (bullet train) from Tokyo.

nice place nice price.Posted Nov 28, 2013 on Hotels.com
nice hotel for the price. ignore anything people say about staff not speaking english, they are ignorant. when you go to a foreign country, you should research the area and figure out what you want and not expect america to follow you to the far reaches of the world. japan is a gorgeous country and the people and the language is just a part of the amazing experience. the hotel is close to many shops and restaurants and good location to do many trips.

Close to Kyoto Station is the only proPosted Nov 26, 2013
Pros: It is close to Kyoto Station
Cons: The bed and pillow are the worst I've ever experienced.
Location: There are various department stores and other hotels nearby to eat at. For western food, there is a great Tony Romas nearby.
There's one word to describe this hotel. Old. It really sums it up, here's a great example, the rooms have normal physical keys to open the doors and you are requested to *return the key if you're leaving the hotel*, when you return, you need to recollect it. Is that a huge deal? No, it is an inconvenience but it is very telling of where your experience is going to go from there. Only downhill. We had a king bed room, the size was fine but everything about it is just rundown, it has an atmosphere of just indifference about the quality of anything. By far the biggest detractor is the bed and pillow, often I can excuse most minor things if I can just get a good nights sleep, at the end of the day, that's what a hotel is really for. I don't care what your preference is, I can't conceive of anyone finding these beds comfortable, I like hard beds and my wife likes soft beds, yet this bed serves no one. It is just rock hard, even carpet on the floor has more give than this and might of been more comfortable if I could trust it to be clean. The pillows, if anyone has experienced these in Japan, they're the type with an inch thick pocket of ball bearings in the bottom layer. I honestly have no idea what in the world these are about, they are mind boggingly and very VERY uncomfortable, actually they're unusable, we used our jumpers. This is the first time in a very long time that I have even felt the need to complain. This place is just not good.

Small room ,completely comfortable , staff helpfulPosted Nov 15, 2013
Pros: Within a few minutes walk to JR Kanda station
Cons: The room was slightly small but extremely comfortable . hotel address card to guest upon arrival
Location: Convenience stores ,restaurants nearby. no photos from Kanda area Favourite photos so far from Japan trip
The Hotel is conveniently located to Kanda station. A few days in the hotel upon arrival from Australia gave me time to feel comfortable in the immediate location . The area is completely safe for a single female traveller.
