Excellent locationPosted Feb 26, 2015
This hotel is at the heart of the historic streets of Kyoto. It is a few minutes walk to the Geisha district, Higashiyama District, and Kiyomizudera Temple. It is also close to one of the subway stations and numerous buses to get around the city. The hotel does not look too big from the outside, but the rooms are definitely big and comfortable.

Great hotel and locationPosted Jan 8, 2015
Pros: The rooms are big, as too is the bathroom. It was clean and it came with beautiful cotton waffle bath robes and complimentary water every day.
Cons: Maybe an extra pillow?
Location: The location is on the foot of Gion, there are many shops, restaurants, museums and temples in walking distance.
This was our first hotel in Japan and it set the standards high. We could not fault it. I would most certainly stay here again!

Great Kyoto Location and Vintage VibePosted Dec 25, 2014
Pros: Comfortable room, pleasant staff, free wifi. Value for money. Location.
Cons: The elevators are tiny, but that's a bit nit-picky.
Location: Kiyomizudera, Gion, lots of temples, gardens, and small shops along the back lanes.
Small vintage feeling hotel in a prime location. Walking distance to Kiyomizudera and Gion Station. Good neighbourhood for food, culture and shopping.

Excellent locationPosted Dec 23, 2014
Cons: Front desk should make calls out for you -- it can be very hard to call up e.g. a Japanese restaurant if you don't speak Japanese!
A hop, skip, and jump from the center of Gion, this hotel is very well located. Room was good sized (esp. the shower/tub area) and well-heated. Bed was very hard -- so if you prefer soft mattresses, that's something to be aware of. The only oddity is that the hotel does not have any way to make phone calls out -- the telephone in the room doesn't work, and also the front desk doesn't like to do it. There is a public payphone across the street. Odd... Overall a good hotel and I would use again.

Very nice hotel in the Gion District.Posted Dec 10, 2014
Location: Great restaurants and shopping. A block away from the theater where the Geisha perform and temples.
The staff were very friendly and went out of their way to make recommendations and help us find what we were looking for.

Pleasant hotel well located .Posted Dec 1, 2014
Pros: location , breakfast was excellent .
Cons: No closet space to put clothes in the room , just 6 hangers in the hallway. It will be helpful if the staff spoke better English.
