Hyatt Regency Kyoto

It was a great experience. Very corteous staff. The room was very comfortable and the bathroom was awesome!.Good access to public transportation, the bus station was right outside the hotel.

The location is good if you go to visit Sanyusangendo Temple

This hotel has a nice setting, with a bamboo garden out the front. It is located a 700 yen taxi ride from Kyoto station, a less than 1000 yen taxi ride from Kiyomizu temple and the main central Kyoto shopping district. There were always taxis waiting there. The lobby is a modern mixture of western and Japanese design, although the exterior looks a little 1970s, like much Japanese architecture. The room room was quiet, had a nice view of trees, and the bathroom was fantastic. My only criticism is that the main part of the room was a little on the small side, and some of the fixtures looked a little faded. It was also quite expensive for what it was. For those who want a Japanese experience with the convenience of a western hotel, I would recommend the Hyatt, although next time I will probably be more adventurous and stay at a Ryokan.

Nice hotel ... comfortable overall. Generally good location, but will need to use taxis. Be aware no English speaking TV, not even BBC (they cut over w/ Japanese audio). Food is good, but a bit pricey. Breakfast buffet is $30 / pp - so if you can get in your room rate you might want to consider it. Fitness center is just ok - far from rooms and in basement. Staff very friendly and helpful.
