“Great Location for walking around Kyoto”
I liked this hotel for its convenience and quality, it was a good value. The rooms are a little older , bathroom is small, but everything was clean and I could sleep well. It was also nice not to smell cigarette smoke in the lobby and floors - I asked for non smoking and that was nice to see it was enforced.
“Nice Place”
I enjoyed the 4 nights I had at the hotel but in reality I was only there evenings since I was out seeing Kyoto on walking tours each day. If you want a central location, the hotel is nice. There is no wireless in the room and if you want some english language television, the only channel I could find is BBC. Having a Starbucks right there is very nice. Skip the hotel bar. Too expensive. Buy beer at Circle K instead or find a pub. Did not eat any meals at the hotel. I was on a budget so took food into the room like noodle bowls, sandwiches, sushi. All in all, the hotel worked out very well for me. Single rooms are small so if you want something with more room, better let them know.
“for japanese standard spacious room even with a 3rd bed!”
As always in Japan. Very polite and trying to do everything they can to make the guest happy. We were early for check in and they set sorry the room is not yet ready. But they took our luggage and we were off sigthseeing. The rooms amenities were great and the room was very clean. The minibar was not filled but on every street corner are convenience shops. I can highly recommend this hotel
“average hotel”
it is an average 3 star hotel. one negative, carpet in the room is old. bath room is a tad small, but I have seen smaller during my japan trip. Overall satisfied. for the price. expedia price was the lowest i can find around.
“Needs more stars to reflect the luxury of the hotel.”
I was expecting a budget hotel when I booked my room. Exit #4 from the subway was an elevator up to the street and the hotel was just steps away. Very imposing building. My room was small but elegant. I had free computers in the lobby, WiFi, BBC on the tv, a fridge and conduction hot plate in the room. I was very satisfied. This is the heart of the commercial/banking district. Eat at the restaurants two subway stops away at the train station. There is a 24 hour grocery a few blocks away where you can load up on fruit and stuff for your breakfast. Don't eat at the hotel unless you have money to waste.

“excellent choice”
perfect location, very good room and service, would return to this hotel
“OK hotel.”
This hotel is big. However, the condition of it seems a bit dated. The staff was extremely polite and a lot of them knew English well. They still use keys attached to sloid plastic sticks with your room number on it instead of keycards. You can let them hold your keys before you go out though. The single room which I rented was a bit dated. The bathroom was also smaller than other hotels that I've been to. My elbow kept knocking over the telephone they had installed in there. The room was clean though, and that's a big plus to me. The hotel is also located very close to a mini mart, the lobby is connected to a Starbucks, and the Subway Metro is located, literally, a minute walking distance from the lobby. Haha, the biggest gripe for me though is that while they do have cable internet for free, you are not able to connect to World of Warcraft. So, if you're the type that likes to do dailies, keep this in mind. Personally, if I had a choice, I would stay at another hotel, but this hotel is still decent.
“Excellent hotel location”
Hotel is in excellent location, convenient to Karasuma subway station. The rooms are spacious, an exception in Japan, with everything one needs. I highly recommend this hotel. The have internet access in the lobby free of charge.
“Hotel Kyoto Karasuma”
Very nice hotel, good location, I would stay there again.
