Originally built in the 1880s but recently modernized and expanded, the Kyoto Hotel Okura offers a convenient central location near businesses, shops, and historic attractions. Many popular destinations are within easy distance, and a subway station is adjacent. Kyoto Imperial Palace and Nijo Castle are both within 2 km (1.25 miles). The hotel prides itself on friendly, expert service, including a top-notch concierge staff.
Dining highlights include the Tokiwa steakhouse, located on the top floor with panoramic city views; Irifune, showcasing Kyoto cuisine; and Orrizonte, serving buffets and cocktails. Recreation
The Kyoto Hotel Okura has a 20-meter (65 foot) indoor pool for guests aged 18 years and over. A surcharge applies for use, and the facility is closed on Mondays.

“Kyoto's best hotel in downtown”

The room was amazingly clean and spacious, even by western hotel standards. The employees of the hotel were also amazingly helpful. Perhaps one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. Great location with hundreds of dining options near by, from 600 yen ramen to 9,000 yen kaiseki!!

“Customer Service like no other!”
My sister and I were very pleased with our room in every respect and the level of customer attentivenss was unexpected. Hotels of this caliber in the U.S. have alot to learn. We are now spoiled forever! Staying here was a wonderful respite to the rainy, hot and humid weather in Kyoto during our trip.
“Excellent hotel in the heart of Kyoto”
Excellent accommodation in the center of Kyoto. Very clean, great service, few minutes walk to the main commercial district, and to Gion. Not far from the temple district on the East side of Kyoto. The subway station is right next to the hotel. Overall, highly recommended. Not a budget accommodation but worth your money.
“Hotel Okura was terrific!”
We traveled to Kyoto with our four year old daughter, and were a bit worried about how she would fare in Japan. The Hotel Okura was wonderful ... they left a tiny pair of slippers in our room for her, each day the housekeeping staff would leave her a little origami crane, and the concierge was incredibly helpful with suggestions of activities for children in Kyoto. I had business to attend to while in Kyoto - the internet was easily accessed from our room, and the staff was very helpful with getting documents printed, and getting me where I needed to be for the conference. We will definitely stay at the Okura the next time we're in Kyoto!
“Excellent room and a very convenient location!”
This hotel was in walking distance to shopping, sites, subway, entertainment, and Gion area. I thought the location was outstanding. The room was larger than the average US hotel room and it also had large closet space. I was very surprised at the quality and service here. The staff was very helpful and friendly. It was a great price and an excellent value. I will cetainly be back to this hotel. I was super delighted!!

“Good location and great servcie”
My family of 4 stayed there for 3 nights and everyone loved the hotel. The rooms are spacious, very clean, comfortable and best of all the service. The concierge staff are knowledgeable, helpful and really cares whether their guest had a good time. If I ever return to Kyoto, I will definitely stay there again.
