“Good basic accomodations”

The hotel was available when most others weren't, but that was based on sheer size as it seemed pretty full once we arrived. It's in a great location for exploring the city - in between Kyoto Station & the downtown nightlife. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for basic western accommodation while in Kyoto!

“Very comfortable and pleasant hotel”

Nicely appointed, modern with clean comfortable rooms and helpful staff. Rooms slightly small but not unpleasantly so. Breakfast buffet is excellent offering Western and Japanese options.

“Good value and location”

Very quiet, clean, tidy, comfortable room that was fairly large by Japanese standards. Great location with a free and regular bus shuttle to and from the train station, 10 minutes away.

The Kyoto Tokyu was very clean and consistent with its five star rating. Be prepared to sleep on very hard beds, otherwise rooms were very comfortable. Its location afforded distance from primary shopping and tourist areas for peacefulness, but it is conveniently located to the Kyoto bus lines and the Kyoto JR rail station. Taxi's were readily available at the hotel when desired. Three or more restaurants were located in the hotel. We only ate at one (for breakfast)with combination western style and Japanese buffets. Food was not kept as hot as it could have been. Bell and concierge services were excellent.

“Excellent hotel, and not expensive”

It is a fantastic hotel. The staff is efficient, friendly and helpful. Lovely rooms, large by Japanese standards!! The restaurant was good, not great, and overpriced, but there is a great diner like restaurant across the street, and excellent restaurants in walking distance.

“Great Place to Stay”

This hotel is obviously aimed at Japanese Guests, but it was still very nice with excellent service. The only complaints that I have were that the beds were way to firm, but once again that may be a cultural thing.

We stayed here in June 2007 and really enjoyed the whole experience. The staff were extremely helpful and courteous and the entire hotel was very clean and comfortable. We would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel and would definitely stay there again.

“Great hotel”

We found the Kyoto Tokyu hotel to be a very reasonably priced hotel in Kyoto with great service. The hotel is about a 15-minute walk from the subway. The only downside is that there are not too many local (inexpensive) restaurants near its location to choose from.

“Reasonable and Reliable Hotel”

Rooms are comfortable and clean, good for a short stay in Kyoto. Excellent restaurants in the Hotel including a great Chinese restaurant. Very close to the Kyoto train station, and a major Kyoto Temple, but not close to convenient shopping. An excellent and reasonable stay.
