Ill maintained and terribly overpriced

Posted Jul 22, 2014
Very small rooms, untidy and unkempt. Very small bathroom. Bad pillow, cheap furniture. Staff not very friendly compared to other places in Japan. Highly overpriced. Gave us a smoking room despite requesting nonsmoking.

Convenient hotel in a fairly central location

Posted Jul 7, 2014
Location: Nijo-Jo, Nishiki Market, the International Manga Museum, and the shijo-district are within walking distance. Kyoto Tower is three subway stops south.
A nice hotel with a relaxing atmosphere. Located in a fairly central location in Kyoto. It's only three stops North (of Kyoto Station and Kyoto Tower) and around the corner (diagonal of Starbucks). It's also within walking distance of Nijo-Jo, the International Manga Museum, Nishiki Market, and the shijo district, as well as some great eateries (you just have to discover them). Overall, it's a nice stay in a nice town. If it's still too far, the shijo location might be a better fit.

Nice quiet hotel

Posted Jun 16, 2014
Positives - Hotel was located close to the subway and made it easy to commute to different sights - Convenient and quiet location - Walking distance to many restaurants - Room was a good size (considering other rooms in Japan) - Staff was very nice, very willing to help. Negatives - It was hard finding a comfortable room temperature (either too hot, or cold) - Pillows were hard, filled with beeds, and not so comfortable.

Nice hotel in the heart of Kyoto.

Good location, staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast prices were a bit high in my opinion, but the food was reasonably good.

Small rooms but nice hotel

Posted Apr 27, 2014
Pros: Location, onsen, and cleanliness
Cons: Small rooms
Location: Right on the subway line to easy to get around.
First time at this hotel. Facilities and staff were very nice and everything was clean. Not sure if they were training new staff, but we had an offer to perform a second check of the room cleanliness after the daily maid visit, which we turned down as everything was fine. The hotel onsen was sizable and hit the spot after a day of walking all over town. The hotel is 1 block from a subway station which made it very easy to get around. The room was really small filled mostly by the bed and desk. The bathroom was tiny but did have a shower and japan size tub.
