Overpaid and service was not greatPosted Jul 24, 2013
Pros: Not much
Location: It was around the corner (didnt find it at first) between 2 subway stations
Had to wait 10mins to get somebody to help me. When i got helped i had a smoking room. I wanted a non smoking room and had to pay 2500yen more, this for a room on the second floor Then he gives me a paper for the explanation about the ohnsen (bath) but i have a tattoo sleeve and i asked if i could go in (he saw i had them) and he said no. Thought it was discrimanation for just giving me the paper. I was there for the gion festival and i ask for explanation of a map. He said over there english. But there was no english papers/maps. I told him so. After 10mins he said oh sorry nog english. Im not going there again. Ive had hostel rooms bigger then the hotel room with better service.

Comfortable and good valuePosted Jul 1, 2013 on Hotels.com
This was an all round nice place to stay, our friends were in a smaller room though which would'nt be ideal, for some so I would recommend requesting a bigger room.

I LOVED THIS HOTEL!!Posted Jun 26, 2013 on Hotels.com
I loved this hotel! The location was perfect, 1-2 min walk to the nearest underground station karasumadori-oike. Come out of Exit 6, turn right, walk a few steps along til you see the starbucks and turn right into the road, and the hotel is just a few more steps ahead to your left. Turns out karasumadori-oike is the most convenient station as it is the cross-over stop for both underground lines in kyoto. The reception has a view of a beautiful garden and breakfast in the restaurant also holds that view. Breakfast is an additional 1100yen and is totally worth it! It was one of the best breakfasts we ate in japan! the free onsen is simply amazing, it's free to use, and has a wonderful view of the garden once again. Room sizes are good and clean too, and we felt so comfortable here. The staff and friendly and can speak a little english. Value for money too, I would definitely stay again, HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Fabulous locationPosted Jun 3, 2013
Location: At the intersection of the 2 subway lines, tucked on a quieter street. Great access to food, shopping and transit.
We were looking for a small hotel after not being able to find a Ryokan that met our needs. This was the perfect fit, location could not be better, at the intersection of the 2 subway stops, made it easy to get around the city between that and the buses. I chose the King bed room to have a larger space, would not do that again, they put the widest bed that I have ever seen in the room (like 2 queens side by side, but not as long), so we really didn't have extra moving around space in the room. The bathroom felt a little cheap, like one of those prefab fiberglass units, but it was very clean. There is a public bath for each sex, which was okay, not much different than the hot tub at the health club. Hotel dining is not worth the money, some of the best food I have ever had within a short walking distance. Buy the book "Kyoto Machiya Restaurant Guide". Best money we spent on the whole trip to Japan!
