Would recommend to others. Great service, friendly staff and (by Japan standards) a very big room. Great value!

3 day get away to Kyoto

Posted Apr 24, 2015
Pros: Hotel staff was friendly, spoke English, and helped with accommodations for tourist activities.
The hotel room was the typical size of a Japanese hotel room. The staff was great, they helped us with locating and booking a river boat tour just west of Kyoto. I would recommend staying here.

Nice Hotel - tiny rooms.

Posted Apr 23, 2015
Pros: Conveniently situated to transport and central point to access major tourist attractions.
Cons: Perhaps need to be more circumspect when advertising rooms as suitable for two people.
Location: Easy access,Nishiki Market, Fushimi-Inari Shrine, Arashiyama, Bamboo Forest, Kinkakuji, Kiyomizudera, Gion, Nijo Castle, Ginkakuji, Philosophers Walk
Hotel in in a good area to access main tourist attractions. It is clean and compact and neat. Staff are pleasant - though they struggle with English, they do try to be helpful. Restaurant is very nice and Japanese courtyard is lovely to look at. Train line is a 5 minute walk and it provides excellent service. Quite a lot of nice cafes nearby though not many restaurants close to hotel. Kyoto is a uniquely beautiful place with so much to see. We stayed for four nights and visited many places - but there is much more we would have liked to have done. Hotel room was small and quite cramped. I don't think the room was really large enough for two people with luggage. Only space to have one bag open at a time. We were in Japan for two weeks - this hotel was the most expensive but the least impressive of all hotels we stayed in. Might be okay for shorter stay with fewer bags.

Boring

Posted Apr 21, 2015
The room itself was fine, but the hotel overall was nothing special. The small garden was just to look at - no access to enter. The "bath" was just a hot tub, which you had to go into naked. If I'm ever in town again, I think I'll opt for a regular hotel with a gym, concierge, bell hops, etc.

Excellent stay in downtown Kyoto

Mitsui Garden Hotel is located downtown. Central to everything. Food was just around the corner. We are also about one km away from the Imperial Palace. Perfect route for running.

京都駅に近いホテルに2泊した後に、同様の値段で宿泊させて頂いきました。 比較にならない程質が良いので、驚きました。 これからは、駅から遠くても、宿泊させて頂きます。 接客態度も良かったです。 ありがとうございました。

Location is quite good, with nearby subway, and close to the shopping area. Room is very small. Toilet basic.

Great location from which to explore Kyoto on foot. Super close to Nijo Palace and the Imperial Palace. On the Karasuma subway at the Sanjo station.

街中なのに静かなホテル

Posted Jan 26, 2015
