One of the finest hotel experiences I've ever had. The accommodations, location, staff, facilities, and the FOOD! Wow. Outstanding.

Nice experience in a Ryokan

Posted May 27, 2014
Pros: Location right on the river, hot springs bath, breakfast and evening meal delicious and the peace and quiet.
Cons: Nothing
Location: Walking the area we found the most enjoyable especially the Bamboo Forest, do early or later in day to beat the crowds. Romance Train good.
Lovely first time stay in a Ryokan from the time we checked in to the waving us goodbye in the taxi - over and beyond service and friendly staff. Booked late and did not have much option as this was the only one available so did find it quite expensive but most Ryokan accommodation seems to be in this location. We were the only guests staying therefore had the baths to ourselves.

Excellent service! Good food and attentive staff!

I loved my stay at Ryotei Rangetsu, It's about 15 minutes walk, but pretty easy to find. Staff were very attentive and i mean VERY. It was like magic, whenever I opened my room door some how they knew and were ready to be of service! The room was very clean, food was great the surrounding area was lovely and serene. MOST def would come back again if I ever return to Kyoto.

Right place to explore Japanese style of life

Posted Mar 31, 2013
Pros: Great Japanese breakfasts
Location: Nice place but not so near to the Kyoto centre. About 20 minutes by taxi to Kyoto station or similar time using JR trains. Perfect for sakura watching
Very nice and deep sense of real Japanese style. Highest level of hospitality with attention to very small details. Not easy to stay for europeans but perfect touch for the local culture. Really gurmet hotel. Recommend to order Japanese style breakfast. Just the best quality products in use!
