Well-located hotel an easy walk to Gion/Nishiki markets/Manga Musuem. Staff very polite and helpful and room small but comfortable. Only issue was that although we had requested a non-smoking room there was a peculiar smell - not sure if it was cigarette smoke or something else to mask it? Please note that I have a sensitive nose and it didn't bother my husband that much so you might not have any issues.

Cosy Japanese Style RoomPosted Dec 14, 2013
Location: The hotel is located very near to Sanjokeihan metro station and is within walking distance to Gion area. Very good location.
The room was rather small but it was really nice and cosy, and with a touch of ryokan decoration. The hotel staff was excellent, extremely helpful and would definitely go back to this hotel again.

Cons: there should be more people in the lobby who knows english
Location: pontocho, nikishi market and nijo castle
helpful staff; good location, room was okay; this is one of those hotel that you go for when you have limited budget. though you dont need so much room space when you are out all day sightseeing

Very friendly and helpful staff. Clean but a little dated. Just a 10 minute walk from the Gion District.

Cons: was under construction during my visit; price was very good, restaurant was closed...no other effects from ongoing work.
Location: nightlife, restaurants, bars, river (people out, music), shrines/temples not far
Good location, near nightlife, and within walking distance of temples/shrines.

Hotel is located near railway station and Gion area. Hotel staff do not speak English. Condition of hotel is poor as water is leaking from sink.

Near to Sanjo stationPosted May 20, 2013 on Hotels.com
The hotel is near to the station and there are quite a number of restaurants if you walk down to Sanjo Ohashi. Also quite near to Yasuka shrine. However, the twin room I stayed at was really small. The beds and pillows aren't exactly comfortable. The front desk could speak some English and are helpful when it comes to directions so feel free to ask them.

Very good hotel, missing a few key amenitiesPosted Apr 13, 2013
Its a great location, near a metro stop and the main part of Gion. The rooms are really great and clean. The Internet was really really slow though which made looking up times and restaurants hard. Plus none of the staff spoke any English or Spanish so they couldn't help you at all with information about the city, making reservations, etc. maybe better for only those who speak Japanese or just want to be close to Gion.

Excellent Location and Free Massage Chairs!Posted Apr 11, 2013 on Hotels.com
The hotel is a few steps away from a subway station on the east-west line and, just north of Gion with a very beautiful street during cherry blossom time. It is a couple of blocks from an area with lots and lots of restaurants. The front desk staffers were very pleasant and helpful. And there are free massage chairs on the second floor -- terrific after a day of sight seeing. The room was quite small (I know -- it's Japan). We self-catered for breakfast. There is also a pay washer and dryer on the second floor.
