Very nice hotel close to the attractions.Posted Oct 29, 2013
Most of the temples and sightseeings are in walking distance. We (2 kids (5 and 10) and two adults enjoyed our room and the hotel very much.

Well serviced comfortable midrange hotelPosted Oct 26, 2013
Pros: All the reception staff were very helpful and friendly and additionally, had a reasonably good command of English which was particularly advantageous.
Cons: The main restaurant would be better located near the reception area rather than being on the top floor; perhaps integrated with the snack bar.
Location: The location is good, in a quiet part of one of the main streets running between the station and the busy eastern part of the city.
Credit to a team of excellent reception staff who were, everyone of them, always very helpful and friendly, our 6 night stay at this well fitted and efficiently run hotel was very pleasant. My wife and I went on from here to the Sunroute hotel in Tokyo, and we were quick to feel that the Kyoto hotel was quite distinctly, the better of the two. (See my review of the Tokyo hotel).

Very nice budget hotel in good locationPosted Oct 6, 2013
Pros: The location, the good looks and the fair pricing are it's strong points.
Cons: Wi-fi is only available in the lobby. The Wi-fi area is comfortably furnished with large sofas and lounge chairs.
Location: Within walking distance from the train station, good shopping, museums and nightlife. You would however had to take buses to get to temples & shrines
I have stayed four nights at the Sunroute in Kyoto. I thought the semi-double room I had was rather large and well furnished. The sofa in the room converted to a bed and accomodated an impromptu guest. Hotel amenities are convenient and well-priced (such as rapid laundry machines for 300 Yen and a small café).

Nice hotel with the best location!Posted Sep 30, 2013
Great staff and nice hotel to stay in. It was comfortable and close to downtown. The only downside is that the bathroom is too small, but that is because we booked a semidouble single bed. We just have to book a bigger room next time. Yay to Sunroute Hotel and its friendly staff!

Choose with confidence.Posted Aug 31, 2013
Staff were lovely & very helpful. The room was a twin & a good size with all amenities. Good food upstairs for dinner & breakfast & a simple breakfast choice downstairs. Good location...never had to wait more than a minute for a bus. Walk around the corner for a fantastic eat street. Free hardwired internet & WiFi in lobby. You can choose this hotel with confidence.

Great experiencePosted Aug 15, 2013 on Hotels.com
The Sunroute Hotel Kyoto was a great experience for a reasonable price. The English-speaking staff was incredibly helpful and solicitous, and provided great suggestions about transportation, sightseeing and restaurants. Westerners, if this is your first time in Japan, be aware that the rooms will not be the size we're used to; this is a function not just of one hotel but of the general premium on space. Our room was clean and functional, the memory foam beds were very comfortable, and the location was a great home-base from which to take in temples, great restaurants, shopping, and the Nishiki market.

Nice hotel, convenient location in KyotoPosted Aug 9, 2013 on Hotels.com
Hotel was about a mile from the Kyoto Station. Small room but clean. Easy walk to a local line that can take you to the many sites in Kyoto.
