Quirky hotel - take care which room you book
Posted Jan 27, 2013
Pros: Good location Good amenities provided in room
Cons: Room 101 a bit run down No wi-fi in room
This hotel is a bit quirky and certainly worth a considering if you're looking for somewhere unusual to stay. The location is quite good to access the main shopping district, and has a good selection of local restaurants. The hotel and room was clean and the amenities were excellent, however, we stayed in room 101, which feels a bit tired and run down.

Good quality & friendly.
Posted Jan 2, 2013
Staff were very welcoming and accommodating. They couldn't made the spa facilities more attractive. Room was nice, with a massive bed. Some natural light, but no windows that could be opened without looking straight into a neighbouring office. Vague smell of smoke. Restaurant for dinner & breakfast was good, if a little expensive & over priced. Close to park, but not train.

The Screen

Fabulous service and accommodation. In a quiet location but so close to everything. Felt the comfort of home knowing that it wasn't a standard hotel room but each individually designed. So comfortable. Would stay again without hesitation. Gorgeous roof top terrace - perfect relaxing spot.

Cool modern hotel near the action
Posted Jan 30, 2012
Pros: Rooftop bar. Cool location. Massive room.
Cons: Bar was a bit too quiet.
Cool modern hotel in a quiet studenty part of town, but close to the action. Staff were really helpful booking stuff and giving advice, and hauling our huge bags! Cool rooftop bar too.

Great hotel but location could be better
Posted Jan 7, 2012 on Hotels.com
The hotel was very modern, clean and stylish. Shame the staff spoke little or no English for international travellers but they were more than helpful. Location wasn't great, inconvenient for the station which is where a.l the transport links are for tours, shopping and sights. So stay near the station if you can.

Definitely recommend this boutique hotel
Posted Jan 8, 2012
This is one of the best boutique hotels that we have stayed in. The rooms are individually designed, spacious and comfortable. They had a good range of local and english movie tv channels. Service was excellent, on a rainy day they had complimentary umbrellas for us - small touches like this and free internet can make all the difference. Location was excellent, being in the old quarter, we were able to walk everywhere. The roof top bar was lovely, great food and decent wines, a great way to chill out for a night. We have no hesitation recommending this hotel to any person staying in Kyoto and would seek to stay there again if we were back.

Westin Miyako is a gem
Posted Jan 21, 2012 on Hotels.com
The Westin Miyako has several typical Japanese rooms surrounded by a Japanese garden and bird sanctuary that is nestled in the back of the western style section of the hotel. It is a wonderful option for visitors wishing to have a traditional Japanese living experience (with a Western toilet)!. The bathing amenities however are typical of a Japanese home with the shower head and Japanese tub--it was great (again for those wishing to stay in a ryokan type accomodation). The Kaisuen room is adorned with minimal furniture and a freshly made Ikebana arrangement. Each night, hotel attendants come to prepare the futon which they put away each morning. Although the location of the hotel is in the hills, there is a shuttle which is provided by the Westin that departs every 15 minutes and 45 minutes on the hour. The shuttle takes riders directly to Gion which is filled with many restaurants lining traditional narrow streets. However, strolling along the street of the hotel itself provides many pleasant surprises--Antique Arts stores, traditional restaurants, Art Souvenir Store and a Post office to mail one's purchase. The quality of the service at the Westin Miyako is tremendous!! The breakfast option is attractively priced as the buffet offers a rich selection of Japanese and Western dishes.

fabulous

What a fabulous hotel. The service was top knotch and my room was extremely comfortable. It also had a huge closet which was great. The bathroom was spectacular, with an amazing jaccuzi tub. The restaurant, Bron Romery, was probably my best meal in Japan. A+ all around!
