“Impressed!”
Overall I was impressed for the price paid. The sheer space you get compared to other hotels makes up for the location and the free shuttle to the Plaza Catalunya and the airport are extremely convenient. On the other hand, the hotel claims to be 5 star, but the room is not really furnished or decorated to a 5 star standard however with shiny, black tiled floors, two plasma TVs, an expresso maker (you have to buy the capsules separately) and an excellent bathroom and shower, you get quite a comfortable set up. There's tonnes of storage space in the bedroom and the kitchen is fitted out nicely if you want to cook meals but there´s no kettle (you can still boil water in a pot on the stove) or bottle opener for wine (room service charged €5 to bring one to room). Bathroom amenities are really nice but bring your own body lotion as there wasn't any. The view from my room was half decent - overlooked water with fountains, but you could hear the water all night and it kept me up.
“NZ review”
The hotel was in a quiet area easily accessible from the Metro. The apartment was spacious and comfortable, however it was in need of some maintenance.
“Great if you are not tourists”
This aparthotel is quite good if you don't mind its out of the central district, non-touristic location. The building construction, the rooms, the cleanliness, and comfort are quite satisfactory, though the location and surrounding is nothing to be excited about. We had difficulty finding this hotel by following what was indicated on the Google map. We actually overshot the hotel (walking with our luggage) by 1 km because that is what the map indicated where we should go. Now we realize Google map could not recognize the address of the hotel, but arbitrarily gave a location on the same street in the same city. It is surrounded by residential apartments, main traffic arteries, and parking lots. It does have a functional kitchenette for simple meal preparation. in fact, we used it every night we stayed. However, lacking supermarket nearby is a draw back for this otherwise fine aparthotel. We'd have to plan ahead, remembering to buy the necessaries before returning from a day's visit. If we had to go to the nearest store, it will cost two metro tickets and an hour worth of traffic.
“Great hotel needs to improve to be 5 star”
The hotel was great.Very close to the metro...5 mins walk. Still needs to improve to be five star standard.Swipe cards dont work and service takes longer than you would expect.Poor wifi which doesnt help ...these are all the downers.. but overall I cant complain.Friendly and helpful staff. Free shuttle to the airport and city centre is a major plus. Also, please remember things like using the gym, pool and even a travel adapter carry an extra charge which is a little surprising but then the hotel rates are well below a 5 star standard.
“Great place to stay if you want to save some money.”
This hotel has a small kitchen with a stove, microwave, and a refrigerator, so you can buy food and cook some. Great way to save money and try some supermarket foods in Spain. Also, we had two flat screen TVs which was nice in the evenings. The location is nice too. It is really quiet and you can get there on the metro from the train station, which is really simple to use. It does take about 30-40 minutes to reach the center though. Also, there are very few restaurants and shops near the hotel, so you might want to eat before arriving or buy some groceries on your way there.
“Very enjoyable stay”
This hotel was perfect so we were more than happy considering the previous reviews. You need to know exactly what to expect - yes its on the edge of the centre, quite some distance, also its in the middle of a quiet area and next to the main airport/city centre roads but the hotel itself is fine. The suites were lovely. Well equipped, clean, stylish. Easy to get in and out of and not the smell of smoke others had complained about. Perfect for an out of centre hotel. The subway was 5 minute walk opposite the hotel next to the hospital. It was the first stop of the line which meant you easily got a seat. Takes about 25 minutes to the very centre which is more than acceptable. The staff were helpful and the free airport shuttle was a great extra touch. Overall delighted and would definately return
“Good hotel if you have the money to spend”
i really enjoyed my stay at the Hesperia Fira. My wife and I stayed in the suites for a week in July and we have very few complaints. The suites are cleaned daily to a high standard and have everything you need for a self-catering holiday. The only issue was a strange unpleasant smell that seemed to be coming from outside, possibly from the water feature next to the suites. The area is very quiet and there isn't much to do in the immediate vicinity of the hotel but there is a small supermarket and a couple of fruit and veg stores where you can stock up. Only 10 mins from the airport via taxi and 20 mins from the centre of town by Metro. The restaurant and bar can be pricey but then again it is a 5* hotel..........
