Good family-run hotel

Posted Jul 14, 2013
The Alfonso is an excellent family-run hotel. It's conveniently located just outside the old city of Santiago. It's only a short walk to the Cathedral and other historic buildings, cafes, bars etc. The hotel has recently been renovated and is very tastefully furnished. The rooms at the back have a superb view of the Cathedral. Rooms at the front face a busy road, but they are triple-glazed. I had no problems with noise during the one night I stayed in a front-facing room. The other nights of my stay were in 2 separate rooms at the back. One room at the top was very hot, making it hard to sleep. (temperatures in Santiago at the time were exceptional, reaching 36 degrees during the day for several days). The hotel has excellent free wi-fi and the breakfasts are very good. I would fully recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Santiago.

A little gem

Pros: I loved being able to see the cathedral from my window.
Cons: Nothing
Location: Close to old city
This is a very small bed and reakfast but the owners have added many touches including fresh flowers in the room and extra towells all bundled with ribbon. It is five minutes from the cathedral and close to everything. A great stay for the price.
