“Comfortable hotel in very convenient location....”

Hotel San Carlos is very well located, within a few minutes walk of the train station & about a 10 minute walk, if that, to the Cathedral. I stayed for 9 nights and my room was always well cleaned. It was spotless when I arrived and the staff did a great job keeping it that way & making sure I had more than enough fluffy towels. The room wasn't cramped at all--very good sized. The mini bar was also priced below what many hotels charge. The staff was also helpful. The WIFI was free, but very weak; fine for a bit of internet surfing or checking email, but that is about all. The breakfast was lousy. I did breakfast the first morning & was shocked. For 9 Euros, you get to choose from a very, very small buffet selection; no eggs, tomatoes, hot meat. The selection was really bad. Their bar & room service selection is equally lousy. Fortunately, Santiago de Compostela has no shortage of very good places to get a bite to eat, regardless of your buget. They offer spa service too, but I didn't use it. If you are looking for a hotel with a great location, easy access to the train station & all of the sites; I would recommend this place. If you want to eat a decent meal at your hotel, or start your day with a good breakfast; look elsewhere.

“Clean and quiet”

The location was excellent, the breakfast pleasing and the room was quiet. We appreciated the free WI-FI.
