La Ensenada Vacations
While it may be a temptation to just kick back and relax when vacationing in La Ensenada, keep in mind that Los Lagos 's abundance of scenic wonders are never more than a day trip away. Cochamo and Puerto Octay are just two of the many other places you may wish to visit while you're in Los Lagos.
Organise transportation and visit Puerto Montt, a regional center, located approximately 30 miles (48 kilometers) from La Ensenada. This regional center offers a number of points of interest, including Plaza de Armas, Monte Verde and Los Alerces de Lenca Park. And don't return to La Ensenada until you've stopped by Puerto Montt's Estuario de Reloncavi, Juan Pablo II Museum and Regional Stadium of Chinquihue.
Los Lagos is an excellent place to take part in a number of guided nature walks that are on offer. Water adventures are a much-loved activity here. Don't miss the opportunity to go canoeing or rafting; this region has some perfect areas for it.
The real meaning of a region lives not just within its mountains, but within its words also. Taking the time to learn some simple Spanish words, sayings and salutations will make your visit to Los Lagos much more meaningful. One example of a handy Spanish phrase is "¿Querría bailar conmigo?" (Would you like to dance with me?). "This gentleman will pay for everything" is another good one know, so practice pronouncing "Este caballero pagará por todo"
At the end of your adventure in La Ensenada, use your last Chilean pesos on last minute keepsakes and bid a fond Adiós (farewell).
