Quiet hotel just South of BuffaloPosted Aug 26, 2013
Pros: Location, room size, amenities, price.
Cons: Nothing that we could see.
Location: Noted in the review above. Also, Buffalo has much to recommend it, especially the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, wings, etc.
This hotel is located in the heart of a former industrial area, very close to the lake. It reminded us of the South Chicago steel mills area. The people seemed salt of the earth types who stayed close to their neighborhood. The best part of the place--aside from it's good value--is that it's close to a very fine Italian restaurant called Mulberry, a mere 5 minute drive away. Featured on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives (don't let that turn you off), the place is warm, and the food is terrific. Our salad of arugula, fresh mozzarella cheese and red onions was simple and remarkable, as was the nearly greaseless, tender fried calamari. We split an order of the legendary lasagne--which deserves its reputation. After this, we could have gone into tv mode at the hotel, but opted to drive the 35 minutes north to Niagra Falls and walk it off, and enjoy one of the true natural wonders of this country. The hotel provided necessary and ample respite from all of this, but was close enough and off the beaten path enough to enable a mini-vacation in the middle of our drive from Chicago to New England. Breakfast (included) was perfect--nice selections, but oddly missing fresh bananas (although there was fresh fruit). Bathroom was large, with plenty of towels, and wireless internet service was adequate in the room, and included.

The front desk night clerk was very helpful in recommending neighbourhood restaurants. The carpet in the room hadn't been vaccumed -- we found long hair stuck to the soles of our shoes and nail clippings on the carpet next to the bedstand. The frame around the bathroom mirror and wall had dried toothpaste and soap splatters from previous guests. Other than this lack of cleanliness, we liked the hotel but we drove by twice because the sign is so small and the hotel is set back from the road. There should be an overhead sign on the building so it's easier to find.

Opps, why did I stay herePosted Aug 17, 2013 on Hotels.com
The sole reason for booking the hotel was 4+ user rating. The rendering posted is deceiving. This is the MOST inconvenient hotel I ever styed in. The property is old, the toilets where shaky, and the room was damp and humid. I will have to do more research in the future for better picks. The hotel wasn't cheap either, which makes it even more disturbing.

Pros: Free parking and internet
Cons: Inconsistent Wi-Fi connection
Hotel appears to be in a not-so-good area but if you're driving in anyways it's not a big deal. There's a Tim Hortons and gas station beside the hotel. The beds were alright; nothing too special. Found a couple hairs in the bed but not enough for me to say I wouldn't return to this hotel. Luckily, this location offers free Wi-Fi in guest rooms. Unfortunately, it's terrible and continuously disconnected on all of my devices. Parking lot is clean as is the exterior of the building. Overall I enjoyed my stay here but if you value a reliable internet connection I would look elsewhere.

where we wanted to bePosted Aug 1, 2013 on Hotels.com
The Best Western Lackawanna was a nice hotel where we need to stay. The bed was excellent and made for a great night's sleep. Breakfast was very good and well kept. Would go back again if the need arises.

Convenient LocationPosted Jul 21, 2013
Pros: Overall "feel" and real breakfasts
Location: We'll visit the Botanical garden next trip.
For us, this location midway between Coast Guard Station and home of new CG member was very convenient. Also, nearby lakefront restaurants were a plus. Room cleanup was late in the day, partially due to our occupation.

Nice hotel...close to town.Posted Jul 17, 2013
Pros: Rooms were large and beds clean and comfy!
Cons: Pool definitely too cold!
Location: Close to city, we went to a concert and close to go karts and mini golf. About 10 to 15 minutes from everything we needed or wanted to do.
Hotel Staff was accommodating. Our air conditioner stopped working and they immediately gave us a new room. My daughter got sick and they assisted us in finding a hospital. Breakfast was very good. My only complaint would be the pool is small but very very cold so it wasn't possible for the kids to swim and there is no hot tub or whirlpool.

Hotel staff at check-in was not the most personable. The breakfast was extremely disapointing after reading the reviews I expected better quality.
