"Great hotel"
We loved the Montage! We have stayed in many great hotels, and on this trip to California also stayed in the Biltmore Four Seasons in Santa Barbara, and Shutters in Santa Monica. The Montage was far and away the best of these three. The service was faultless, the hotel and surrounding grounds beautiful, and dining options excellent. The views are wonderful, and little touches (like a complimentary champagne in the room bar), make all the difference - great attention to detail. There is a 5 star restaurant in the grounds of the hotel - The Studio, which was great for a special occasion, but the more informal dining options were also great quality. Really, we couldn't find any faults! Well done Montage!

"Great hotel, with price tag to match!"
The hotel is situated on wonderful grounds with very scenic views. The rooms are beautiful, very comfortable and kept clean with service twice a day. Checking in and out took longer that it should have, but we were able to get into our room earlier than standard check-in time, which was much appreciated. Vey nice gym/work out area with access to spa and various classes (yoga, hikes, bootcamp) held during the day. The restaurants are nice, but quite overpriced for quality of food - I mean, for $9 cappuccino, I would expect would expect a true Italian drink. With a family of 4, we could not get out of any of the restaurants without leaving at least $150 behind. And the beach café charges 18% gratuity, even if you get your meal "to go". Also, we were informed that self-parking does now have daily rates, so no in/out privileges, which forces you to use valet parking for $40/day. Self parking was also full, due to events at the hotel. There is also $30 daily resort fee. The beach is very nice and private, with chairs and umbrellas provided. Beach staff is very nice and helpful. Overall, I would definitely stay there again, just plan on eating in many nearby local restaurants.

"Classy Coastal Decor and Beautiful Views"
We went to the Pageant of the Masters and needed a room for one night. The hotel itself is older but the inside is incredibly refreshing with coastal California decor. Surfboards are tastefully displayed and this gives you an immediate beachy feel. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about the Laguna area. Our room was super cute with white, distressed furniture, fresh white linens and a beautiful side table with glass top. Plenty of plugs for our electronics. Lots of snacks and drinks in the mini bar for purchasing. The pool area is quaint and clean with a wonderful fire pit to relax around. Plenty umbrellas if you want shade. Views to the ocean are the topper! We will be back....

"calm and peace"
Calm and peaceful weekend getaway where you have access to the beach. The hotel is on a cliff and you can walk down to the beach, which is secluded so it feels like a private beach.

"Always a wonderful place"
We come here annually for a car club event. It's a very pleasant stay, with beautiful gardens and views. It overlooks an expansive park and the marina. Several very good restaurants are within walking distance (it is a steep hill so you'll get your exercise). The staff is quite pleasant and helpful. Great live music in the lounge on Sat. night.

"Nice Hotel Great Location"
I loved the location. It's right on Main Beach and within walking distance to Pageant of the Masters and shops and restaurants. They also have complimentary cookies and milk after 6 pm and wine reception at 5 pm. Nice touch. Overall, our room was comfortable but dated. However, there was some ambient building noise at night. It sounded a lot like the HVAC but we couldn't pinpoint it so we just turned on the ceiling fan to cover up the noise. For $400/night + $35 for parking, I think The rooms should have been first class. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

"Beautiful hotel within walking distance to beach"
Our time at the Art Hotel was wonderful. The hotel was beautifully done, room was spacious and our view was amazing. The trolley stops right in front of the hotel and you are able to travel allover Laguna. We have been telling everyone about this magical place and encouraging all to go. I have found my happy place and its at the Art Hotel in Laguna Beach, CA.

"Very cute, great location & price!"
We stayed recently for 3 nights and had a very nice experience. The breakfast was complimentary and very good! The location is great and close to everything. The room was cozy and cute however the only way to get to it was up a set of stairs or through a private entrance by the road. The public Jacuzzi wasn't working while we were there but we had a 2 person spa tub in our room. Overall we would go back for sure!

Pocket Guide: Laguna Beach, Orange County Adventure Sport Hotels

Reality TV portrays Laguna Beach as the land of the young and spoiled. But beneath this veneer is a city rooted in the arts. The Laguna Playhouse is one of the oldest theaters in the West Coast. The city also hosts the annual Festival of the Arts/Pageant of the Masters and the Sawdust Art Festival. West of Laguna Beach, Crystal Cove State Park’s unspoiled beach attracts snorkelers and divers.
