"Great hotel"
We loved the Montage! We have stayed in many great hotels, and on this trip to California also stayed in the Biltmore Four Seasons in Santa Barbara, and Shutters in Santa Monica. The Montage was far and away the best of these three. The service was faultless, the hotel and surrounding grounds beautiful, and dining options excellent. The views are wonderful, and little touches (like a complimentary champagne in the room bar), make all the difference - great attention to detail. There is a 5 star restaurant in the grounds of the hotel - The Studio, which was great for a special occasion, but the more informal dining options were also great quality. Really, we couldn't find any faults! Well done Montage!

"Beautiful grounds"
It's like staying in a lush garden spot. The interior courtyard is great for looking at and relaxing in. A room with a view of the ocean is in order though you're not right on the beach. It is not close to the main downtown area but with a car, it's just a few minutes up PCH. The room itself was very clean and large enough for the two of us. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. Would stay here again. Very romantic.

"Super clean and comfortable."
This hotel was super clean and comfortable. Very modern layout. The only problem for us was that all of the rooms are on the second floor and there is no elevator. The staff were very helpful. It has private, gated parking in the heart of town. I would stay there again. The price was great.

"Great hotel, with price tag to match!"
The hotel is situated on wonderful grounds with very scenic views. The rooms are beautiful, very comfortable and kept clean with service twice a day. Checking in and out took longer that it should have, but we were able to get into our room earlier than standard check-in time, which was much appreciated. Vey nice gym/work out area with access to spa and various classes (yoga, hikes, bootcamp) held during the day. The restaurants are nice, but quite overpriced for quality of food - I mean, for $9 cappuccino, I would expect would expect a true Italian drink. With a family of 4, we could not get out of any of the restaurants without leaving at least $150 behind. And the beach café charges 18% gratuity, even if you get your meal "to go". Also, we were informed that self-parking does now have daily rates, so no in/out privileges, which forces you to use valet parking for $40/day. Self parking was also full, due to events at the hotel. There is also $30 daily resort fee. The beach is very nice and private, with chairs and umbrellas provided. Beach staff is very nice and helpful. Overall, I would definitely stay there again, just plan on eating in many nearby local restaurants.

"Best ocean view! "
The balcony practically hangs over the ocean! Staff was excellent! Food at restaurant was delicious. Location is wonderful. Room was very clean and modern. Only complaint, the sliding wood door to bathroom needs replacing. It was in poor condition.

"Classy Coastal Decor and Beautiful Views"
We went to the Pageant of the Masters and needed a room for one night. The hotel itself is older but the inside is incredibly refreshing with coastal California decor. Surfboards are tastefully displayed and this gives you an immediate beachy feel. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about the Laguna area. Our room was super cute with white, distressed furniture, fresh white linens and a beautiful side table with glass top. Plenty of plugs for our electronics. Lots of snacks and drinks in the mini bar for purchasing. The pool area is quaint and clean with a wonderful fire pit to relax around. Plenty umbrellas if you want shade. Views to the ocean are the topper! We will be back....

"calm and peace"
Calm and peaceful weekend getaway where you have access to the beach. The hotel is on a cliff and you can walk down to the beach, which is secluded so it feels like a private beach.

The room was clean and spacious. The air was cool and crisp. The bed was comfy. The only thing missing is a hot tub by the pool. We loved the balcony space and would stay again.

Pocket Guide: Laguna Beach, Orange County Green/Sustainable Hotels

Reality TV portrays Laguna Beach as the land of the young and spoiled. But beneath this veneer is a city rooted in the arts. The Laguna Playhouse is one of the oldest theaters in the West Coast. The city also hosts the annual Festival of the Arts/Pageant of the Masters and the Sawdust Art Festival. West of Laguna Beach, Crystal Cove State Park’s unspoiled beach attracts snorkelers and divers.
