Small, gem boutique hotel on Lake Bled

Posted Sep 2, 2014
Pros: Perfectly situated on the lake; delicious food for breakfast and dinner, and really pleasant staff.
Cons: I was really happy with the villa and wouldn't change anything.
Location: Location is ideal for anyone wanting to visit Lake Bled, nearby restaurants, and promenade. I also recommend a visit to Vintgar Gorge - stunning.
This was such a great stay! We booked a one-night stay at the hotel and didn't know what to expect. It's a small villa and the main floor is a (delicious) restaurantm, so it looks quite different from the larger hotels around the lake. We were happy to stay somewhere with more character, and the location couldn't have been more perfect. The hotel also has a terrace facing the lake, which was great for dinner and breakfast. The service was great. They were flexible, accommodating, and very pleasant despite being very busy at the restaurant. I would highly recommend the villa to anyone and hope to stay again on future visits. It only has a few rooms so good luck scoring one of them!

Right on the lake

As much a restaurant/bar with accommodation as a guest house but lovely nonetheless and in a great location - close to everything in Bled but off a quiet road below the castle and ideally located right on the lake.

Great Location

Vila Preseren was located right on the lake, several hundred meters away from the big, over-touristed hotels (that's a good thing). in fact, the hotel is quite small, only about 8 rooms (another good thing) Check-in is a little unusual. Instead of a dedicated reception area, you are checked in by the wait staff in the restaurant. The provided breakfast is adequate - you are asked to pick from a limited menu. The restaurant has a great setting, good food. We were easily able to walk to all the attractions around the lake. If we were to return to Lake Bled, would stay at Vila Preseren

Difficult to find using GPS. Breakfast was limited, not buffet style as indicated in Hotel.com info. But very convenient to have the private parking available.

Great spot in town and on the lake.

Posted Dec 30, 2013 on Hotels.com
We stayed for 4 days over Christmas and even though it was low season there were always people in the restaurant and the town was still busy. The hotel was great, we paid for a lake view room and really enjoyed our stay. The staff were great and even treated us to a free Bled Cake when they made a small mistake with our drinks.

Very unfriendly staff

Posted Oct 14, 2013
This is one of the unfriendliest places we have ever stayed. The restaurant and café-bar clearly take priority over the rooms and the staff treat the guests with the same disdain they appear to show to everyone. There's no reception so check-in involves standing in the middle of their busy café with your suitcases waiting for the staff to find time between serving food to check you in. Any requests or queries would have to be yelled across the counter next to people queuing for cakes so god forbid your bathroom runs out of toilet paper. On that subject, the bathroom was incredibly dated (the toilet had a high-level cistern with a pull chain handle - I've not seen one of those for years) and the extractor fan didn't work so the room smelt permanently damp. It was not a pleasant room to be in. The bedroom carpet was covered in stains and the mini bar was missing both a price list and any way of opening the bottles in it. The owners need to put money into refurbishing the rooms, judging by the one we stayed in, and give their staff some customer service training. The premises are in an excellent location and could be such a nice place to stay.

Lovely hotel by lake and great scenery

Posted Aug 24, 2013
Pros: Location, service, food and drink! Staff friendly and helpful. Very relaxing. Free car parking.
Location: Various activities on the lake. Walking, cycling. Nearby gorge accessible by walking or driving worth a visit. Vrisc pass a great day out.
Perfect setting and scenery. Small hotel. Check in at the cafe. Had one of the smallest rooms which was adequate and air conditioning excellent. Excellent restaurant/cafe close to Bled, a busy tourist centre. Good position for exploring north Slovenia and its Beautiful scenery.

Great location; more of restaurant with rooms

Posted Aug 8, 2013
Pros: Location, price and deck
Cons: Hotel and restaurant customer service
Location: 20 minute walk to most popular public swimming spot; 10 min. walk to most popular private swimming spot; 10 min. walk to downtown; right under castle
Overall, I recommend the hotel but it seems to be more of a restaurant that attached some rooms to it. The rooms are nice, though the one we had was a bit small. There isn't a front desk or other typical hotel staff - rather, you check in at the restaurant with the waiters. It is definitely well-situated (probably the best spot of any of the hotels I saw) as it is right under the castle and close to the swimming spots without being "downtown" (where most of the shopping and hotels are, only a 10-minute walk away which seemed to be totally safe in the dark). You can walk to the most popular public swimming area, down by the camping spot, within 20 minutes (again, closest of any hotel I saw since this side of the lake is quite undeveloped). Restaurant is lovely though service was just OK. There are also free parking spots for guests, which was much appreciated, as was the free breakfast.

Great room

First night on our honeymoon and staff was super friendly and helpful. Our room was huge with a great view of the lake. The hotel couldn't have been in a better location.
