Elegant dining made for a memorable stayPosted Oct 14, 2014 on Hotels.com
I was a solo traveller staying at the Villa Giulia for the first and best of five nights that I spent in the lake Como area in early October. The hotel location is quiet and very beautiful, even romantic, though some might find it a little difficult to access without a car. All staff were courteous and friendly and extremely helpful; my room was perfectly clean and well kept, but was perhaps a little utilitarian in its furnishings, though a pretty balcony with lots of foliage made up for this. This hotel's strongest point is however its public rooms, particularly its splendid beautifully lit dining room, luxurious by any standards, and really amazing for what I take it is a relatively small hotel. Food was excellent, with a good choice and reasonably priced, and served with a laid-back elegance by a discretely helpful waiter. I like a bit of spoiling from time to time and this was right up my street -a luxury experience to get my holiday break off to a delightful start. All in all, really great value for money.

Beautiful view of Lake Como from the terrace.Posted Sep 26, 2014
The hotel was nice. There was a nice view of Lake Como, but only from the terrace. The terrace was very nice. The hotel was a little difficult to find. I don't recommend the attached restaurant. We weren't too thrilled with the food there, it wasn't horrible or anything, but seemed very expensive. It did have a really nice setting though.

Beautiful hotel on the lake, slightly out of townPosted Sep 21, 2014 on Hotels.com
Very helpful staff and excellent service. The hotel is right on the lake with restaurant terrace, gardens and balconys overlooking Como. It's a bit away from Lecco - and you really have to drive in as the lakeside road is too narrow to safely walk. Only 5 minutes drive though.

Quiet location overlooking Lake ComoPosted Sep 12, 2014
Pros: The staff, without exception, were superb, spoke excellent English and could not have been more accommodating.
Cons: Bathroom needed modernising but this gradual process is underway. Quality of the breakfast, although adequate, could be improved.
Location: Quiet lakeside location across from Lecco. Slightly awkward to find (DO NOT enter the tunnel!). Take the public ferry from Lecco to Como via Bellagio.
This villa was converted into a hotel about 28 years ago and the owners are upgrading some rooms. Public rooms have original frescoes ceilings and marble floors. Dining on either the terrace overlooking the lake or in the richly decorated dining room was a memorable experience. The set dinner menu represented better value than restaurants in Lecco and should not be missed.

Holiday in paradisePosted Jun 28, 2014
If you are conciderdering a holiday in Italy I strongly suggest "Hotel Guilia" in Pare, Valmadrera Lecco. Everyone talks about lake como, yes it's nice and full of tourists where Lecco is a hidden paradise where only the locals know about. We travelled around Europe but once we arrived at Hotel Guilia and walked out the terrazzo we had tears, the view, that feeling i can not describe, not to mention the friendy staff who were so helpful, honest and have a great sence of humor. You will not regret a stay at Hotel Guilia, I will most certainly be going back and to be quite honest it's probably best kept a secret

Lovely family-run hotel. Wonderful views and food!Posted May 7, 2014
Pros: The staff were very friendly and the food was unbelievably good. Great original features in the rooms and lovely views across the lake
Cons: No lift although renovations were under way. Water pressure not brilliant but it arrived in the end.
Location: 1 hour from Bergamo airport and 10 minutes drive from Lecco. Watersports on the lake and walking / mountain-biking above the town.
We booked a long week-end for our silver anniversary. Claudia and her staff were incredibly welcoming. We booked a suite which was more expensive - great high ceilings and an fashioned feel with shutters and original features. A massive shared balcony with fabulous views across Lake Como to Lecco and the mountains behind. The cable car ride to the top behind Lecco is a must. The highlight was the restaurant - dinner each night was amazing. Some of the best food I've ever had and good wine with it. We were going to go out for dinner but the food was so good, we changed our minds. Great value for money too. I would recommend Villa Guilia to anyone. It's not the most beautiful hotel or the the most luxurious but the experience was memorable.

Beautiful and Great LocationPosted Oct 7, 2013
Pros: Loved the location and the architectural details.
Cons: The bathrooms could use a renovation.
Location: It is located in a picturesque area of the lake and very easy to get to. There were several pubs and restaurants that were open past 2a.m.
I loved my stay at this hotel. The staff was very friendly and even carried my bags up to the 4th floor because there is no elevator. It is by no means modern but it is clean and quaint.

Though a little old and quirky in places, you can't beat the view! Great service and nice rooms.
