“This is a true Palace”
The hotel was fantastic. We loved everything about it, from the convenience of being able to easily walk there from the train station to the views, the breakfast, the room and decor. The staff was wonderful and helpful with everything we requested. We will definitely be returning.
“Not the best choice”
The Palace Hotel is not the best choice for a visit to the Lake. Check out other towns around the lake as all are accessible by boat. Como, located on the south of the lake, is prone to high winds, and when cold, it's very cold and uncomfortable. Outside dining is off the agenda here when other towns are calm. The Palace offers a clean but uninspired room. Dining is overpriced and their meal deal is no deal. You end up paying for the maintenace of this beautiful building with food prices and room charge. Look elsewhere for your stay. We traveled to other towns around the lake and found them to be much more interesting than Como. Sightseeing was great, shopping extrodinary, and outdside dining delightlful. While our hotels in Rome, Florence, and Aviano accomodated smokers with wonderful outside areas, the Palace negleted to do so. We were lead to believe we might get a smoking room only to find out smoking is not allowed in Italy in any public inside areas. For the most part, this was not an issue for us while in Italy for almost a month, with the exception of the Palace Hotel. The only place we could smoke was in the back alley, standing against a biting wind. Not exactly what I bargained for! Also, we had great difficulty finding good restaurants in Como unlike our experience in other cities of Italy. Perhaps other hotels in Como would offer a better experience, but you would still have to contend with the winds off the lake. Good luck and enjoy your travels.
“Couldn't ask for much more!”
We only stayed at the hotel one night, and had a dog with us. The staff were all very polite, and very accommodating. The hotel boasts an underground garage which operates mechanically, meaning that no matter what you leave in your car it is 100% safe, very useful for travelers. You put the car in the elevator, and the machine does the rest. The building is classical, and very well maintained, giving you an authentic feel. The surrounding area is very beautiful. The hotel runs a couple of very nice restaurants, and a Pizzeria and ice-cream place too. Would definitely recommend to others.
“Classic old hotel with updated furnishings”
Beautiful room overlooking Lake Como. Rooms a too small and crowded, no chairs for lounging in room but large bathroom. Great Breakfast with lots of fresh fruit and breads and also scrambled eggs etc. Located just a block from the ferry landing, right in the historic district. A short taxi ride from the train.
“Xmas get away”
wonderful hotel, location was perfect for walking around and exploring the town. Our room was very comfortable. Breakfast did not live up to expectations based on the rest of the hotel experience. The hotel staff recommended a local restaurant, located directly behind it on one of the squares "sociale restaurante". Be careful of restaurant staff who short changed us on our bill. when confronted they played dumb and took advantage of tourist who have little long term influence on their reputation because we leave the town and don't get to tell people about our bad experiences with them. Hope this makes a difference to someone else.
“Excellent hotel”
We stayed only one night at the Palace Hotel, but wished we could have stayed longer, but we'll be back! The hotel has the best location in Como, right by the lake. The rooms were very comfortable (but bear in mind that hotel rooms in Europe are smaller than in the US), parking at the hotel is easy and the breakfast is delicious. There is no concierge, but the staff at the reception is very helpful and will assist you with directions, maps etc. Can definitely be recommended.
“Como Palace Hotel”
Hotel is out of date for being a 4 Star Hotel. Rooms are small even for a superior level. Location is excellent, but other hotels in area are just as good. Cut vacation short and still paid for 3rd night. Be sure you know the days you plan to stay. For the price, should have had free WiFi.
“Great hotel, great location, well priced”
*Located right on the lake *great service from front desk *breakfast buffet is good *restaurant for dinner was very good & service was great *priced well for what you get and other comparable hotels *just a solid overall value *solid 4 star hotel (on US scale rating...)
“Perfect for our purposes”
Hotel location was perfect. Around the corner from the LeNord commuter line to Milan, with good, inexpensive connections to Malpensa Airport via Saronno. Across the street from the lake boats and a short walk to many of the points of interest in Como. Room and bath were large and very clean. The room decor was somewhat dated, but was still pleasant. Staff members were friendly and very helpful.
“Good Location and Beautiful Lake”
It takes only 5 minutes walk from the train station. The view and restaurant are also good.
