Gracious older style hotelPosted Jan 11, 2014
Ideally located on lake shore in centre of old town. The staff were helpful, but by contrast with the hotel we had just left in Milan, not so friendly ior caring. It made a difference to our stay. However we would return.

Best location stay in ComoPosted Jan 7, 2014
First visit to Como and it over exceeded our expectations. Central to everything, amazing views, 2 minute walk to the water ferries to Bellagio which is a must see. Stunning town with vibrant restaurants. NB. Restaurants do not serve evening food before 7pm. Happy hour is 6-9pm. An extra euro per drink gets you bar food and a very chilled early evening out. The walk around the lake is well worth doing and we found a wonderful lakeside restaurant where you can sit and drink wonderful wine whilst watching the ferry boats arrive and leave towards the snow capped mountains and other towns on the lake and water planes take off and land. The day ends with one of the best sunsets I have ever seen.

Misleading hotelPosted Jan 5, 2014 on Hotels.com
Most of the hotel is not available to guests. It needs major refurbishment inside. Looks impressive and in great location outside.

Good Location, Breakfast and ServicePosted Oct 26, 2013
Pros: Location, breakfast and service
Cons: Decor in the rooms could be updated and the bar should be closed until the work is finished
Location: Boat trips to Bellagio and Tremezzo (Villa Carlotta). Funicular railway. Cathedral, shops, bars and restaurants - all within easy walking distance.
Hotel was in an ideal location close to the station, boat trips, cathedral, shops and restaurants. Room was very old-fashioned and dark but comfortable, clean and huge! Breakfast was excellent and service was good, especially at the front desk. The only downside was that there was major work going on outside the front of the hotel which spoilt the view from the terrace bar. This meant that the bar was eerily deserted and to be avoided at all costs.

Being Waited On Like a QueenPosted Oct 26, 2013
Pros: It was very elegant and the staff was most courteous.
Cons: Everything was wonderful, no need to change anything. The car parking garage was fascinating.
Location: Wonderful location, close to boat transportation for a day in Bellagio.
At the end of two weeks of touring in Italy, staying at an apartment in Rome for four days and an agriturismo in Tuscany for a week, and waiting on ourselves during that time, it was wonderful having someone else wait on us with a wonderful meal in the elegant dining room of your hotel.

Grand Hotel in need of renovationsPosted Oct 23, 2013
Great location but out of date. The bar, restaurant, and rooms need renovation. It is also strange that more than half of the public spaces (and main entrance) have been dedicated to conference space. The hotel entrance is off to one side and it feels like you are entering through a back door. The staff was helpful and nice, but this place is not worth the money.
