Disappointed

Posted Jun 8, 2013
Cons: 4 flights of stairs, bad location, rooms are in the attic.
Location: Far away from the city center and the lake.
The hotel says it's in Como, but it's about 5 km out of the city, one block from the Swiss border. A cab ride will cost you 18-20 euros each way. The hotel had a great price, but when we got there, the room was up 4 flights of stairs in an attic. There were no windows; just 2 cots a small sink, a tv that got 3 local stations and one overhead light. The bathroom was down the hall. Yes, down the hall! Now our room worked out to about $70, but with the cab rides, then bus rides to safe a little money, we could have stayed in the center of Como at a great hotel. This hotel is really a restaurant with a few apartments above, where the owner thought they could make some extra money by renting out their attic. It's clean, but a terrible place to stay.

Very old, too far from Como, had to ride the bus to town. Noisy, bathroom in the room was tiny, the beds were horrible. Breakfast was a joke. Their American coffee was 1/4 cup of dark stuff. Tasted really bad.

Clean but disappointing

Cons: breakfast
Location: some way out of town, but publtic transport good
The hotel is advertised as having free parking, but in fact has no car park at all.The on street parking nearby is payable at one euro an hour. The breakfast provided is totally inadequate. One croissant plus bread, butter and jam and a cup of coffee. No cereal, fruit juice or yoghurt.Although the hotel is some way from the centre of Como, the bus service is excellent - every 15 minutes and only 1 euro 30 one way.

Friendly, courteous service

No problems whatsoever. Good menu and food, great service (they even called me a taxi) and room cleaned everyday with new towels, bed change, etc. Some English spoken, so you can get by if your Italian is poor. A bit far from Como itself, but the frequent Number (linea) 1 bus stops just outside the hotel and will get you into town and back in about 15 minutes. Also Chiasso, Switzerland is just 2 minutes walk down from the hotel for any local shopping requirements and a railway station with trains into Milan, Zurich, etc.

Great Location

Great location if you are coming in and leaving by train. We came in from Switzerland, walked across the border and stayed one night, then walked across the border again and took the train to Milan. It was excellent for this. After reading what others wrote, we decided on the attic room with private bath. It was clean small and the bed was softer than we like, but all-in-all, for the price, it was good. Staff was nice and as it was a rainy night we ate in at the hotel restaurant .... very nice meal and reasonable. All was cooked to order.Would give it a 3.5 if that was an option.

Very satisfied guest

Pros: The shower and cleaning
Cons: Nothing - perhaps more tourist advice at a front desk .
Location: Convenient for the bus to Como
The hotel was excellent with very good service and high standard of cleanliness. The shower in our room ( No. 13 ) was very good, and the mattresses on the beds were extremely comfortable. I would happily come back and recommend this hotel to friends !

Price can't be beat

Convenient location in between Lake Como and Ticino, two minutes' walk from the Swiss border and the Chiasso train station, but a much better price than anything you're likely to find in Switzerland. Local bus to the Lake Como and the heart of the city, seems to run quite frequently. Rooms are simple but comfortable. For the attic rooms there is only one bathroom, which is a bit cramped but totally functional. Restaurant on the ground floor and others nearby, including some inexpensive and quick eats.
