“Lovely Hotel in beautiful location”
This hotel is lovely. The restaurant is exceptional. It is very close to the lake but does not have views of the lake. Right in the centre of town.
“Superb position”
This hotel is in a superb position in Friedrichshafen. It is lovely to go out in the morning straight into the middle of a street marked with all the wonderful smells and atmosphere. The receptionist was really helpful and friendly and made us feel really welcome. The room was large with the only downside being a quite uncomfortable bed. Overall I would stay here again.
“Handy Position but Overpriced”
My wife and I stayed two nights at this hotel while using Friedrichshafen as a base to explore the Bodensee area. Access by car is tricky as the hotel is situted in a pedestrian zone and although we can speak/read a little German the signs indicating who could, and could not, enter the zone (and during which times) was not easy to determine. However it appears that regardless of times hotel guests can take their cars in for unloading/loading purposes before you park in a nearby multi-story carpark outside the zone. The hotel will provide a coupon to allow you to exit the car park. There is a daily charge for this, which we felt a little mean considering there is no option and taking into account the room rates. Our room was large and bright but in the annexe - a nearby building (a separate hotel originally) not connected to the hotel proper which was a bit inconvenient as we often got wet going to/from the main building. The outlook was not good either: views of a car park and wheelie bins, and in the mornings the market traders would set-up outside causing a bit of noise which seemed to travel upwards to our 3rd floor room. But the breakfasts (included in the room rate but served in the main building) could not be faulted: plenty of choice (hot and cold) and pleasant surroundings. Just a walk away is the lake shore and the Zeppelin Museum which should not be missed.
“Very central”
Hotel was very central. Room very spacious and comfortable but decor a little "tired". Unaware at the time of booking that the hotel was on two sites, the reception and dining facilities being in another building. Unfortunately at the time of our visit the central precinct (below our bedroom window) was being re-developed and each morning we had to negotiate a building site to reach breakfast! However, the food was excellent and the staff very efficient. Would certainly recommend this hotel to others, particularly as it was so central to all amenities.
“Never again”
My wife and I had a very negative experience with this hotel. There is no parking within 3 blocks from the hotel. So if you are using a GPS to find, then you will have to park the car in the Altstadt parking area 2 and walk (10 euro). We paid a pretty good sum of money for this four star hotel and in Germany, you take away one to start. This hotel has two buildings. The first one, where you check in, is the one they rated. The one, across the gravel construction zone they didn't bother to. We were on the 5th floor. In spring it got a bit warm in the room, so by summer, I am sure it is very hot. As you get off the elevator, there are 3 bags of dirty laundry sitting there across from your door. The furniture in the room is leftovers from some cheap hotel. The only redeeming feature is the restaurant which actually is pretty good if they do not put you in the back by the WC and other customer's dogs.
