basic accommodation close to lake and main road

Posted Jul 2, 2014
This hotel desperately needs refurb. Clean staff efficient but not a good atmosphere in dining room due to ludicrous table allocation system - we did not dine there as a result - although breakfast was good. Bar a joke. Left early but unable to obtain refund . manager blamed Expedia .com!

A bit dated, but comfortable and clean. Close to the town's sights. Overall, a good value in Riva.

Everything you need with stunning views

Posted Sep 22, 2013
Cons: Wooden bed was old, creaky and needed replacing. Mattress was ok.
Staff were excellent and helped us with taxi booking and we were offered a very much needed free coffee at 5 in the morning while waiting for the taxi to arrive to take us to the airport. The view from the large balcony was stunning overlooking the massive mountains. It was about 20 minute walk to the main restaurants but the walk along the front by the lake was breathtaking so not an issue and worked up the appetite. Restaurants close if required (including next door) The breakfast was of high quality every morning. Salami, ham and cheese in granary rolls was delicious. Coffee was fresh and tasted very nice. Bathroom was clean. Only negative was the old creaky wooden bed frame which was clearly in need of replacing. Would go again.

Very Clean

Posted Jul 23, 2013 on Hotels.com
The rooms were modern, well maintained and clean with excellent bathrooms. One room had a small balcony with two chairs and a table, the other had a larger balcony with 2 chairs and 2 sunbeds. The swimming pool is excellent. The breakfast was good, with quite a variety of things to eat (breads, cakes, cereals, toast, yoghurt, cheese, ham, salami, jams etc). It's quite a built-up area located at the far end of town with lots of other hotels nearby, but you can walk to the centre of Riva using the seafront path in about 15 - 20 minutes. There are good local restaurants nearby and a supermarket, plus there are bus stops nearby for the Lake Garda ATV 162 bus. The hotel's just off the main road, so it can be noisy with traffic at about 5:00 a.m if you sleep with the window open. Highly recommended, and Riva is a lovely place to stay.

Very friendly and clean hotel

Posted Oct 2, 2012
Pros: Very friendly and helpful staff, powerful shower, nice pool
Cons: Struggled to find anything bad, but probably the need to be at breakfast before 8.30 to get the 'nice' fruit of poached pears or strawberries!
Location: Hotel was not on the lake side of the main road, but not a big problem. Nice stroll along lakeside into Riva or Torbole.
Staff were wonderful, so helpful and desk always manned. Very good English. My niece and I had booked a twin bedded room but we were given a double bed. This was rectified straight away with no problem. Ended up with a nice big room, so no complaints. Rooms were cleaned thoroughly every day. Breakfast was plentiful and waiting staff very pleasant and smiley. Pool was a good size and kept clean. 15 minute walk into Riva, but very pleasant along the lake.

We enjoyed our stay.

Pros: Pleasant, helpful staff who spoke English. They helped us with enquiries about bus routes and hiring bikes.
Cons: The lounge area was relatively small.
Location: Well placed for the lake shore and promenade.
The Gardesana hotel is a comfortabe, no frills hotel. The staff were pleasant and helpful. Our room was small but comfortable with a good sized balcony with two sun loungers and a nice view of the mountains. There are several good pizerrias and ice cream parlours close by where the food is tasty and reasonably priced. The hotel is only a short walk to the lake shore and lovely promenade.

Lovely hotel in a good position

This excellent little hotel is comfortable and clean, the staff are really friendly and helpful. The pool is a plus after a days sightseeing. Rooms are basic but comfortable air con or a small fan in the room would have made it perfect. The walk into Riva through the main road takes about 15 minutes. If you walk along the lake front where the actual walk seems shorter but stopping to appreciate the view and surrounding attractions several times can tend to lengthen the walk somewhat.
