Hotel with thermal pool on the lakePosted Nov 19, 2013
Pros: The luxury of the warm thermal swimming pool.
Cons: Only one person could fit in our bathroom at a time.
Location: The huge ruined Roman villa and museum nearby are a must visit. Catch a boat to one or more of the towns on the lake, we loved Salo!
Getting through the old town by car with its narrow streets full of tourists was a bit of a challenge but once we got to the hotel it was worth it and a car park was provided. A short walk from the quaint old town with its stone buildings, fortress, multitudes of good shops and restaurants the hotel is quiet and well appointed. Sirmione has been a spa since Roman times and we luxuriated in the thermal swimming pool with its massage jets. The restaurant with views over Lake Garda is huge and serves good food as does the breakfast room which offered a real varied quality buffet. We also enjoyed drinks and coffee in the bar after dinner.

Excellent hotel right on the lake!Posted Oct 12, 2013
Pros: Helpful staff who appreciated my terrible Italian attempts and spoke excellent English.
Cons: Struggling to think of an answer, that in itself must tell you something!
Location: Shopping, restaurants and easy access to lake ferry for other resorts.
A superb hotel with welcoming & attentive service from all staff we encountered. Ideally located right on the lake with great outdoor seating areas & lovely thermal pool with spa facilities. Hotel restaurant a little pricey, although good quality. Only 5-10min stroll into town makes hotel close enough without being disturbed by noise. Suggest if getting cab, drop off at castle other end of town & then walk the 10-15min to hotel if luggage not too heavy. It'll save around 10euros due to narrow streets where cab has to take time negotiating pedestrians. You can get bus between Verona main rail station & Sirmione for around €4 one way then get aerobus from station to airport for similar amount. Takes a bit longer, but get to see more of area & much cheaper than €80 cab fare. Or train to Desanzano, then ferry or cab to Sirmione is also an option.

A hotel with a sense of traditionPosted Sep 20, 2013
Pros: Fantastic location
Cons: Ask guests on arrival whether they require a 'turning back' service in the evening.
Location: Suggest car, taxi or ferry to Desenzano de Garda on Tuesday for market day.
This hotel is in a beautiful location benefiting from full sun from early morning through to the evening. It is spotlessly clean inside and the outdoor large terrace. A thermal pool sits on a higher terrace overlooking the swimming pool. The hotel has a traditional and refined feel about it (eg a turning back service) but marble floors make it feel a little hollow and sound travels - our room directly above the reception was a little noisy. Definitely a hotel for maturer people or couples enjoying some quality and romantic time together. The hotel is in the historical part of Sirmione which for access to the winding roads with shops and piazza for food (gelato!!) is excellent. It is not so good if you have a car particularly for people like us who want to get out and about. There is a strict limited access policy on Saturdays and Sundays (out by 9.3am) and not allowed back in until 7.00pm and we wished we had known about this before booking. We did enjoy our stay, the staff were very friendly other than at check out. The female receptionist could only manage a 'nothing to pay' --no thank you or good bye which is a pity that our departure didn't match the warm welcome received on our arrival.

Great hotel in superb lakeside locationPosted Sep 13, 2013
We thoroughly enjoyed our week stay at the Hotel Continental. The hotel location could hardly have been better, right on the lakeside and within an easy walk of the historic town of Sirmione. The staff were very helpful and attentive, the room was more than adequate and cleanliness could not be faulted. The hotel pool and outdoor thermal spa were superb and again were spotlessly clean. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel.

An absolutely amazing hotelPosted Sep 3, 2013 on Hotels.com
We would recommend this hotel without a moment's hesitation. It is one of life's wonderful conundrums where you want to selfishly keep it as a hidden gem to return year after year, but also tell anyone looking for a quiet location to go. The staff are truly professional, a credit to the hotel and made our stay very special; the location, for us was perfect situated right on the lake, down a quiet road just north of the main square(s) and bigger hotels, but still only a 2 minute walk to where it all happens. Our only regret was we only had 2 nights at the hotel but having said that the break was such a treat and so relaxing we did feel as if we had been there longer.

Fantastic hotel in superb lakeside setting!Posted Sep 2, 2013 on Hotels.com
This is a superbly run hotel on a beautiful lakeside setting just to the north, but within very easy walking distance of, Sirmione old town. Our room, and indeed the whole hotel, is spotlessly clean and the maid service in the room was excellent. Although the breakfast is described as Continental there is a wide display of cereals, fruit, croissant and pastries (these last two are deliciously fresh), cakes, fruit juices, cold meats and cheeses and scrambled egg and bacon. Breakfast can be had on the terrace overlooking the lake or indoors. A very attentive staff will bring coffee (filter with hot milk or cappuccino, etc on request) to your table. It is hard to imagine how the outside setting could be bettered with a beautiful pool with sun loungers round it, as well as decking with further sun loungers looking out onto the lake. There is also a thermal pool, again, looking out on to the lake. There are plenty of sun loungers and shades and it was never a problem at any point in the day to get either. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly and hotel is extremely efficiently run. Sirmione old town is very busy with tourists but although the hotel is only just a few minutes walk away, it was extremely quiet and peaceful.

Great staff, lovely public areas.Posted Sep 1, 2013
Pros: Location and staff
Cons: Some public areas could do with a lick of paint!
Right on the lake, best location in Sirmione. Best place to stay in Lake Garda. The staff are all very friendly and can't do enough to help. Lunch great - we are there most days. Plenty of loungers and never felt crowded even in high season. We stayed one night in a standard double and four nights in a superior, both were immaculate and very comfortable. Better views with the superior and it was quite a bit bigger which you would hope. Would recommend!

Pros: The local area and the staff
Location: The most tranquil and beautiful setting right on the lake
Another wonderful stay at the Continental hotel with a double free upgrade to a lake view room. A truly fantastic hotel in the most beautiful setting, we cannot wait to stay here again.

Good for HoneymoonPosted Aug 5, 2013
Pros: The Swimming Pool and Sulphur Pool
We arrived at the Hotel after midnight and was pleasantly surprised to find a bottle of Prosecco and some Strawberries in our room as we were on our Honeymoon. We had a partial lake view room which was lovely. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful. We would definitely go again and Sirmione is such a beautiful place.
