Basic accommodation in a central location

Basic slightly dated rooms, but very clean. As the hotel is in the town it can be quite noisy. Staff were lovely

Modena Hotel, Malcesine

Fantastic hotel, clean and definitely more than a 2 star hotel. Claudia and all the staff could not do enough to help. We would definitely use the Modena again.

Good location

Pros: Excellent location for shops, bars and restaurants. If you are going to Malcesine for a wedding, it is within easy reach of the castle too.
Cons: More comfortable beds!
Location: Within walking distance of everything, we ate at Pedros, lovely food and gluten free pasta available, and pizzas if ordered in advance.
Lovely staff, friendly, polite - always with a smile! We travelled with grandchildren (2 under 5's) to attend a wedding , the hotel was centrally located and within easy reach of the castle as well as the bars and restaurants, great for adults, but not so great if you have young children as they were soon fed up with no where to run around. Although it is a pedestrianised area, cars still use the road for access. Beds were too hard, I ended up with sore hip joints !!! But apart from that it was ok and it was clean, it is a 2/3 star hotel so rooms are basic and what we expected. There was quite a lot of noise transference so our grandkids waking up at 5.30am and running around the room could easily be heard in the adjoining rooms, luckily they were also part of our wedding party, otherwise it would have been annoying for those guests. Breakfast was basic, cereal, tinned fruit, yoghurt, toast, eggs, two types of cold ham/salami and cheese , jam ( and our kids favourite- chocolate spread!) , again ok and what we expected for the type of hotel. It was replenished regularly and tables cleared up as soon as someone left so always neat and tidy. Overall we had a positive experience, we are seasoned travellers so have been to many hotels across the world, this hotel was what we expected for the price we paid so for us it felt value for money, we there for only 3 nights so it was fine.

Amazing staff and atmosphere. Extremely good with children. Just needs a little updating in the rooms for extra comfort e.g decor and a bath.

Great location

The hotel was perfectly located less than a minute from the lake, shops and restaurants. It was clean but basic and ideal for my few days away for my sons wedding at the Castle, again a short distance from the hotel. I would use the hotel again and was very happy with the quality of service.

Stayed in this hotel for three nights, although basic i found it to be clean and comfortable.Breakfast was adequate for us.Claudia was most helpful and friendly and nothing to much trouble for her.The location is excellent being right in the middle of town,if we visit this area again will most definately stay at this hotel again.

fantastic value for money

we had a very enjoyable stay at this hotel and would recommend it to anyone ,it is a no frills hotel in a fantastic location, the cleanliness was exceptional ,but you must remember this is a very old building in the centre of the town ,i stayed in room 201 and it was on the front but the quality of the double glazing meant we could not hear anything outside although there is no air conditioning there was a stand up fan and this was adequate for all but 1 night but it was a very humid night ,i would stay here again

Ideal location and great for low budgets

The location of this hotel is fantastic - smack bang in the centre of Malcesine - and is very cheap in comparison to nearby accommodation. It is very basic but that doesn't mean its poor quality. The management were very friendly and the room was cleaned daily (although they didn't seem to change the towels or replenish the shampoo). Breakfast was basic but again, in no way poor quality. I don't have any negative things to say about this place and would recommend it, and would most likely stay here again. Be aware (and this isn't a fault of the hotel) that it can get quite noisy outside due to its location but closing the windows can fix that - just make sure you turn on the fan in the room in the warmer months!!
