Great location - Terrible Staff

Posted Jul 27, 2015
Pros: Location
Cons: The staff
The location and look of the hotel is excellent. Looks lovely from the outside and the rooms were pretty clean. The hotel did have an awful smell in the corridors. I'm assuming this was something to do with the pool being out of order. The plus side is we got free passes everyday to Aquiria - a nearby spa which also had the awful smell in places but overall, very good. The only real problem was the reception staff. They were extremely slow and a bit rude. If you ever need anything from them (daily passes to Aquiria) they tend to walk past you and ignore you

Beautiful hotel that needs some attention.

Posted Jul 25, 2015
Sirmione is a busy and beautiful place a variety of shops and restaurants. Stunning buildings and great access to the lakes taxi services. Service in restaurants is not great as there is always another group waiting for a table. Poor variety of foods but the Italian food served is generally a good standard. Salads very poor! Great ice creams if you can eat them before they melt. We were there during a heat wave so very uncomfortable. Upwards of 35 degrees very few air conditioned eateries. Shops expensive. Get outside the area to experience true Italy. Work needed on hotel our door kept breaking and generally a little shabby but a great refuge from the heat also added to the character. We didn't pay extra for a view and did not miss out. In fact our view/atop onto the marina was perfect we saw boats arriving and leaving daily and did not suffer from noise. Although a Mecca for super cars that tend to drive in circles and the owners are there to be seen. The opposite side of the lake could get very loud and the noise carried across the lake. Claudio senior bar staff is an absolute treasure full of information and knows his stuff. It was definitely worth hiring the car if you are brave enough to get out and about. Pedestrians and cars step/pull out with regularity it seems accepted. It can be unnerving.

Great location

Posted Jul 24, 2015
Pros: The location mainly
Cons: Maybe upgrade hotel rooms a bit but they are traditional and very clean.
Location: Amazing and you can visit other places easily from the ferry stop next to the hotel.
The hotel is a traditional Italian hotel so not plush but very clean and pleasant. The pool and spa are lovely if you can stand the sulphur smellbut the view over the lake is lovely and the staff are all friendly. Unfortunately we were only able to use the pool on one day out of the 5 we were there as it was out of action. The hotel however did give us free passes to their Aquaria spa up the road which was beautiful. The breakfast was adequate but not a lot of variety. We didn't eat dinner in the Hotel. What makes this hotel special is the location. It is right on the lake and next to a ferry stop. It also backs on to the main square. We would definitely choose this hotel again

Wonderful location

Wonderful location. Brilliant for exploring the historic commune of Sirmione - and farther afield: the hotel is right on the lake shore, and ferries linking Sirmione with other parts of Lake Garda stop literally next to the hotel.

Great hotel in a beautiful part of Lake Garda

Posted Jul 20, 2015
Pros: Great position, in one of the better parts of Lake Garda
Cons: The birds that were flying around at breakfast time were an annoyance - couldn't leave any food around to get a drink as the sparrows would converge
Location: Great location near harbour, restaurants and bus stops and river bus jetty
The hotel is lovely and well positioned - close to many beautiful restaurants and to the stop for the river bus where you can visit other parts of the lake

Good hotel in perfect location

Posted Jul 19, 2015
The hotel was just inside the old town and only a few minutes walk to bars, restaurants and the ferry. The location really made the holiday as it was very hot when we stayed so it was easy to pop back to your rooms to change and the spa pool was lovely too. The staff were ok but could have been a bit friendlier. Other than that it was a great place to stay.

Do not stay here!

Posted Jul 12, 2015
Pros: The location, that is it.
Cons: After my friend had a horrible experience in their spa and that led to her being rushed out for late check out. We forgot something in the room!
Location: Its right off of the water shuttles and next to the castle, so it is by everything to do.
This hotel's location is amazing! That is the only thing nice I have to say: 1. The room was just ok, outdated and they still keep those dirty nasty heavy quilts blankets that do not get washed between guests on their beds. The environment is very cheap hotel. 2. The bathroom was weird. The toilet was made for a 6 foot or taller person, so if you are tall, you will love it. The shower has those folding doors around it so you feel cramped when you shower and if you don't close it properly, you will get water everywhere. 3. The food in the restaurant was not good and their selection was very limited. They took our 8:30pm reservation for dinner but then rushed us through it so they could close. Made us uncomfortable. 4. The hot springs is NOTHING like the pictures. The pictures you see are at their sister hotel which is more expensive and you have to pay to get into on top of your stay. OR you can stay in their own hot springs which was just an outdated swimming pool with sulpher water in it. Both hot tubs were broken and so was the outdoor shower. Actually there was a few other things in their that were broken. And when my friend and I ordered a cocktail, it took 45 minutes to get them. 5. The spa is horrible. My friend booked a massage. The AC in the spa broke and she was very uncomfortable and then got a massage from a girl with no hand strength then moved her through busy tourists in a golf cart while she was wearing a robe for her other services. So embarrassing for her.

Nice hotel in a very touristy place

Posted Jul 10, 2015
Pros: Thermal facilities, breakfast and location. Very helpful staff.
Cons: Shower in the bath is not great Evening meal in the restaurant was a disappointment -
Location: Trips round the lake, Verona and Venice (a bit further away)
This is a very nice hotel in an attractive town that exists solely for tourists - there is no supermarket/minimarket - and at the end of a peninsula (which you ought already to know) so it's a long way to anywhere. So, with that said, the hotel and its spa facilities are excellent, though the evening meal we tried was a big let down - we did not repeat the experience. Great location on the edge of the lake and a minute from the ferry and five minutes from the bus stop. But Sirmione is very touristy with ice cream shops interspersed with nicknack/souvenir shops. But if this is where you want to stay then the hotel is probably the best there is. We may return in the Spring - pleasantly warm but not so busy.

Picture perfect

Posted Jul 6, 2015
Pros: What not to like?
Cons: Pool is small and sun bed space at a premium...
Set within the shadows of the castle, within the beautiful old town , lies this hotel, right beside the lake.... And the mountains framing the view... We could not have asked for a more perfect setting to sip proseccos in the early evening ... This is a lovely hotel, perfectly managed , with everything polished til it gleams. The "comfort" rooms are not huge ( though the bathrooms are) but crisp sheets, soft fluffy bath towels changed daily, and a lovely thick dressing gown.... Breakfasts were lovely, bowls and bowls of fresh fruit, loaves of every type of bread for toasting, continental or cooked breakfasts , and croissants and cake... Step out of the hotel into the main square where you can while away the days in bars and trattorias. Shop in lovely stores even the most jaded shopper will be interested in.. Or take a boat just a stone throw away if you can bear to leave sirmione! not much in the way of beaches... But if prepared to wade around the top of the peninsula there are lovely slabs of rock to lie on and thermal lake to swim in....and of course the hotel has a thermal pool... Very warm (too warm) water and sun lounges if you get thee quick!
