FabulousPosted Oct 28, 2013
Pros: Everything from the location, the room, the staff, the food & the facilities.
Cons: Absolutely Nothing!
Location: The location is great for walking around Montreux, near to the lake & promenade. Also very close to the shops & restaurants.
Everything about this hotel was amazing, from the moment we stepped out of our car we were greeted with a wonderful welcome. We were shown to our room which was divine with the most amazing view over Lake Geneva. The spa facilities were absolutely brilliant everything you would expect & more. We dinned at the hotel which was another wonderful experience from the food to their recommendations for the wine. Breakfast was also lovely,a fantastic selection with such wonderful service from the staff. We cannot find anything whatsoever to find fault with during our stay.We will defiantly be returning very soon.

Old world charm, new world characterPosted Oct 27, 2013
There are good hotels - there are some very good hotels - and then there is this hotel. The building takes you back into a bygone era of sophistication, old world style and charm. Yet it has all the modern touches, the levels of service and attention to detail one would expect from today's top hotels. Add to that the totally unique location, right on the waters of Lake Geneva, and you have an unforgettable hotel and experience.

Location: Interesting town with good walks - not a whole bunch to do there and we wont rush back
The hotel is in a good location, has good facilities and staff are helpful. The mountain view rooms are disappointing and noisy at night

Nice hotel with a minor catch ..Posted Sep 27, 2013
I booked a sea view room, overall I had a pleasant experience except that the hotel is situated next to a main street. Therefore, since my room was in the second floor, every time I open the window to enjoy the beautiful view, I still can see and hear the trafic on the street which takes a little away from the overall experience! I asked if I can change the room to one in a higher floor but I was told hotel is fully booked Everything else was just perfect!

Elegant hotel with excellent servicePosted Sep 16, 2013
Location: Chateau Chillon full of history and lovely charming spot, easily accessible by bus and boat from the centre of Montreux. Make the trip to Leysin
Elegant hotel with excellent service, fresh fruit in the very comfortable room every day, very helpful and knowledgeable concierge, a lovely welcome when we arrived at midnight, a very efficient reception. The hotel is in a lovely location, close to the lakeside, the station and the bus stop. Enjoyed the benefits of the Riviera card the hotel gave us for free which gave us perks like free bus trips and 50% discount on the boats and at some attractions. The hotel also surprised us with a delicious lovely birthday cake in our bedroom.

Great stay but felt like a bit of a numberPosted Sep 1, 2013
Pros: Location, views from upper lakeside room, pools, gym
Cons: Housekeeping, spa experience, felt a bit like we were a number (the hotel is large)
Location: Walkable (35 mins along waterfront path) to Chateau Chillon, Jazz Festival, easy trips to Vevay and Lausanne, wine tours, Le 45 for a sunset dinner
The Palace is a beautiful old hotel in tradition with many of the Fairmont properties. Overall our stay was very good, but nothing memorable in terms of service which was a bit surprising. I think it is difficult for the large grand hotels to create an experience for their guests. We booked a beautiful lake front suite which had an excellent balcony with priceless views. The housekeeping left a bit to be desired and we had to call one day when we came back at about 4 pm from being out all day to have our room serviced. They were also inconsistent, we had our 5 month old daughter with us and used wash clothes everyday but some days they were taken and not replenished. Additionally, they did not empty the garbage (full of.diapers) and addtional garbage we had left neatly in a bag beside the one garbage that was full. The bath products were okay, though I am not sure all men want to smell like roses, something more gender neutral and less fragrant might be better. The hotel has a beautiful indoor and outdoor pool area as well as a great gym The also have a Willow Stream spa which is nice, a bit tired as the locker areas are also used by hotel guests for the pool, gum, etc but have stream, sauna, ice bath, hot tub which is nice to use and available even if you don't use the spa. I did use the spa and the treatment I received was nice, therapist was very good, reception was not as good but it was a bit of a combo between spa and facilities, this could be improved.

Something Extra SpecialPosted Aug 19, 2013
Pros: View, terrace restaurant, poolside, gym and spa facilities, staff
Cons: Pool was also closing for a week of cleaning on our last day... would have been disappointed if it had been during our stay
Location: Great location on the front - not too far from Montreux station
I decided to break up a two week trip to the beautiful mountains around Haute Nendaz with an extra special weekend to beautiful Montreux treating my mum to stay at the Palace (you only have one mum right?). Like many, I pondered for many hours over the price and whether it would be value for money and as special as the reputation - I really wasn't disappointed and so pleased to have spent a little (ok alot) more for something which was the highlight of our trip to Switzerland. From the moment the Concierge greeted us with "Your home now" and took the car keys off us, to sipping our last poolside cocktail before heading back up the mountain - we had a truly memorable and beautiful stay! We had a lake side twin room with a view to die for. We ate in the terrace restaurant on night one - the best Gambas I have ever tasted with a view to match. The second night we took a walk along the front and found a little restaurant up a cobbled street to mix it up. We spent three days in the spa, two pools to cool off, sleeping in the relaxation room and on the terrace loungers was a joy, with very attentive staff and very affordable drinks and snacks. The gym was superbly kitted out and the fitness trainers were really on the money with their advice and support. Best advice - make sure you have a lake side view and ask for a room as high up as possible to be as far away from the main street below. And check pool isn't closed for cleaning during your stay.

Fantastic FairmontPosted Aug 8, 2013
This was one of the most sumptious hotel rooms that I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. We were upgraded to a deluxe room with a view of Lake Geneva from 2 balconies at the front of the hotel and were not disappointed. The Fairmont excelled themselves from the warm welcome at the front desk, with helpful tips on what to do and where to visit in Montreux, to the great food, Harry's Bar in the late evening and to cap it all off, a tremendous firework display just in front of the hotel on the lake to celebrate Swiss National Day on 1 August. The hotel is extremely elegantly presented and the service was impeccable. The bed was one of the most comfortable that I have ever slept in. Our small dog was travelling in Switzerland with us and he was welcome everywhere in the hotel, receiving a dog bed and bowl on arrival and even offered a bowl of water in Harry's Bar. We will definitely be returning.
