“Fine choice”
Close to center city, reasonably inexpensive, clean, and well-appointed. Not too noisy. No real cons, except for no parking, and a weird entrance area.
“Do not stay here!”
The staff is rude. They ask you to leave your room key while you are away. The storage for the room keys, is where anyone can grab your key, no questions asked. It's noisy, right off of an alley next to a night club. No a/c breakfast was awful. Parking is horrible, 3 blocks away and hilly not good for dragging luggage and the hotel in general is hard to find. When we asked for a couple of other pillows it was like asking for the room for free. We originally had one pillow.
“Perfect location”
The location was very good. We walked from the main train station to the hotel, which was about 15 minutes but one could take a metro and be right at the hotel in 5 minutes. Hotel also provided us with public transportation cards when we checked in. The room was spacious but a little old style. However, it was clean, warm and the sheets were good.
“OK for a short stay”
Hotel City is centrally located in the old part of Lausanne right off the M2 metro line (Bessieres stop). You can easily access any part of the city from here either by foot or metro. The hotel itself is a little run down and tired. The primary reason why my group stayed here because we needed a hotel that could accomodate 3 people in one room. The staff was a little unfriendly every time we encountered them at the front desk, but the hotel was just right for one night given it's location and for the price and the views we had from the room on the 5th floor.
“average”
The hotel is very close to downtown, on a tourist route. Other than that, everything was average, except the price which was probably a little high for the conditions. They don't have parking onsite which might be inconvenient for some. I would probably go back if I didn't have better options.
