“Jazzed about the TraLaLa”
There are 1,000s of hotels in Europe that play on their "oldness" or "tradition." It was kind of refreshing to stay at a hotel for once that went the other way. While the decorating wasn't particularly sumptuous or over the top, they did just enough to pull off the jazz theme. The strangest thing was a lamp in the room that you could take off its holder and use as a spotlight (as if you were on stage). I am sure it has inspired a lot of people to do fun, crazy and/or kinky things. The room was smallish but still comfortable and the free breakfast was actually quite good. Parking was a challenge in the neighborhood because it is almost all on-street, but the guy behind the desk actually came outside to help me find a space and help park the car if I needed it. He ended up coaching me into a very tight space on a steep hill while I was in a stick shift. If you have a car, be aware and brush up on your parallel parking skills. The neighborhood itself is very charming and just a few (steep) blocks above the center of town. We enjoyed the hotel for its alternative-ness and the never-ending laughs we got whenever we told someone we had stayed at the TraLaLa Hotel.
“Tralala Hotel”
The hotel staff were amazingly friendly and welcoming. The hotel was immaculately clean and the rooms were chic with great ammenities and stylish furniture/bathrooms.
“Montreux hillside hideaway”
We were delighted to stay at the Tralala on a recent overnight in Montreux. It is just a few minutes walk up the hill from the train station, and though modern and chic, is in a lovely old residential neighborhood on the hillside above downtown, below Glion. The staff was professional and courteous, the building is beautifully renovated, clean and bright, and the breakfast offerings fresh and delicious. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it. Great value in a very high-priced town.
“One of the hippest places in Montreux!!”
Tralala is a totally hip hotel! The staff is so friendly and if you are lucky enough to be staying on the first Thursday of the month, the hotel lobby turns into a night club with live music. They serve drinks from the front desk/bar. Lots of locals come out and it is really great!! Plus, everything is shut down and quiet by 11:00. The hotel is a short walk from the water. I will absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone!
“100% satisfaction”
There is usually something negative that can be said of a hotel experience. Alas, this is an exception. This was an all around satisfactory experience. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Montreux.
“Music themed boutique hotel, great style big rooms”
Adorable music-themed boutique hotel in a gorgeous lake-side city. Tucked into the hillside and easily reachable from the train station via bus. Would be nicer to be closer to water, but being away from it made it more reasonably priced. Super cute rooms. The main room was spacious but the bathroom was tiny. Three windows with nice views and got a helpful breeze in the room. Great lobby bar. Thought for the price we paid they should have included breakfast and also had wifi throughout hotel. AS it was you had to go to the lobby to check your email.
“Not as great as expected”
For the price of the room, things were not as good as expected. The room was smaller than imagined and things were a bit cramped. The previews reviews for this hotel were slightly more generous and the expectations had for this hotel was slightly higher, so when arriving at the hotel it was a little disappointing.
“great hotel for a young travellers”
the staff was friendly, but the room was overheated, had to open balcony door...there were no international plugs so i couldn't charge my phone, they don't have 24 hour reception. However, the look and feel of the hotel was very modern and chic. If I were in Montreux again, I would stay in the same hotel. And there was a furry greeter to welcome me at check in, very pleasantly surprised, cause I am a huge dog lover myself :)
“OK hotel, but you might want to look elsewhere.”
While staff was generally friendly, after a long set of flights from the USA and a long train ride, we arrived and waited 15 minutes for a checkin -- while we were the only ones waiting. They offered a drink and some chips during the wait, but we would have preferred just getting our key. Most disappointing to our air conditioned lives was the fact that the HVAC system for the summer consisted of a large opening window over a busy street intersection and a 3 speed fan. It was very difficult sleeping temperature with higher humidity and temps around 80F during the summer days in late June 2012. We realize that much of Switzerland apparently does not have air conditioning, but it's something you may want to consider or look for. The hotel is near the top of a large hill and you'll find it's a brisk 10 minute walk to the nearest metro station. (We took trains exclusively, so I can't speak to parking). The included breakfast included no hot items and was a bit sparse, but you could be satisfied. As is typical in smaller hotels, staff handled food directly and other things without care for cleanliness. Electrical plugs were, not surprisingly, sparse and difficult to access. The shower was a gloomy place in our room, with no light over the shower and a dark plastic brown shower curtain, further limiting what light was available. The room lighting overall could have been considered "moody" at best.
“Not worth the steep rate. Uncomfortable room.”
Some at front desk helpful and friendly, others not so much. Refrigerator did not work. No window shades but a huge curtain which blocked what little desk or counter space provided. Cramped quarters. Shower stall undersized with no hand held. Electrical outlets inconvenient. Cold breakfast OK was included but I noticed sometimes it is not. Buyer beware. News channel on TV in breakfast room with no sound so not at all useful. Waitress refused to make audible. Wake up call worked once but did not work once. Location up steep hill far from center and RR station. American guests not welcomed. Go somewhere better. Has three astericks but not three stars. Tries to be cool but fails on almost all counts.
