Family Reunion Weekend

Posted Jul 27, 2015
Pros: It has something for people of all ages.
Cons: Resort guest should receive some amenities without charge or at least at a discounted price. A resort guest should not have to pay for every activity
Location: The location is great but nothing is near by. Enjoy the resort and all it has to offer. They offer many excursions and activities to participate in.
Check in and check out was very easy. The staff was very kind and helpful. My family and I stayed for a weekend for our family reunion. The facility had many activities and amenities for all to enjoy. The food at the food court was tasty but a bit on the pricey end especially when feeding children. We also had a buffet dinner and that food was not quite as tasty. Overall, I would bring my family back again. It was a nice get away with more things you can do in one weekend!

No Coffee?

Posted Jul 27, 2015
Pros: the view
Cons: book entertainment appropriate for the festival at hand. clean up the gross shower. get wifi in the rooms, and have coffee available in the am.
Location: excellent location, blues festival.
1) when I called to confirm my room I asked for one that does not require steps. Ours not only required steps, but we had to walk up one flight and down two flights to get to the room. Yes, I am not kidding. I don't know who designed this place, but he must have had a screw loose. 2) we were there for a blues festival, and the lodge night club had a very loud and young cover band. Who is making the plans for this place, how dumb is that? Also, they have a lovely outside sand bar where we were looking forward to sitting and having a drink into the evening, well guess what? They closed at 8:30. By the time we changed our clothes and came back, they were closed. Why? because they wanted everyone to sit inside with the crappy band. We had to leave the premises in search of a blues bar. 3)Getting up the next morning, really needing some coffee, there is NONE. The little cafe I saw the night before is not open, the attached restaurant is not open, there is none in the lobby for guests, we could go a mile up the hill to the galleria, they had coffee, not the lodge. 4) no room wifi. The shower was drippy, old, and the drain looked a little skeevy. I usually take a bath, if the tub looks clean, but this tub had the drain stopper unattached and laying on the side of the tub, looked rusty and gunky. The tub was slow draining, so while you take your shower, you are standing in your dirty soap water. gross! Other than the above, we liked the room,it looked out over the lake, pretty.

Rooms are a bit out dated. Not the best selections at the gift shop. A bit pricey for T-shirts.

Not the greatest hotel but not that bad either

Posted Jul 23, 2015
Split rock is a nice hotel if you don't plan on being in the room that often, it is very outdated but the overall comfort was fine. We had an issue getting the correct room and it took awhile to get it sorted out but we did although I did have to go to the front desk two times to get the room key fixed but the staff was overall courteous and helpful. The bowling alley and arcade are pretty nice and the pool is not bad either, the food at the grill was average . So overall it is an average to above average hotel.

We did a night splurge ...one day getaway

Posted Jul 21, 2015
Pros: Nice room. Very comfortable and pleasing. The best part of the stay. Setback: it was behind the main area...there was only one elevator to get there.
Cons: communication. Direct as to what you get in your plan/stay (Not when you arrive there after driving there for 2.5 hrs and youre tired) before paying.
Location: many activities, lake access ($ boating) (driving distance)$$, sitting by the lake -another small lake view & outdoor pool (walking distance)
There is a lot I can say. I can start by saying there is a lot of miscommunication. Overall, they are very indirect as to what is included and not included at the resort. I tried to get as much research done as I could on so many hotels and resorts. I took several visits to their website. This seemed promising because it was under 400 for one night for the four of us through expedia (lots of missing details)...Everwhere else was over 1,000 for one night "all inclusive" so what did we get at SRR? a very nice room. Access to a crowded indoor pool/jacuzzi room (no showers are in there) as well as a outdoor pool (no showers). Some cookies and weak coffee at a party they hosted...which not many people came to. The indoor water park facility H2o was ok...I thought it would be included but it wasnt and it was difficult to tell my parents that as well. Sadly we checked in nearly at 6 o clock pm(check in begins at 4 pm I believe) and we had to check out by 11 am so that was tough as well because many of the facilities on site opened up at 10 a.m. My advice is dont be fooled by certain words on the website and dont take customer service's words for it. They cant even tell you what is included in your stay. You come on a vacation to relax..experience...get your full moneys worth and a little more ...this was far from that.

Staff is very disorganized

Posted Jun 18, 2015
Pros: The staff was friendly and helpful - Management was not helpful at all. The lake view (the reason for our reservation) is very nice. Tavern - Great!
Cons: Reservations and networking between resort locations. Bike trails or hiking trails
Location: Seems like a fun place (waterpark) for kids. Fishing, boating, ice cream - on site, lots of wildlife, Francis E Walter Dam - Breathtaking
1) They overbooked and we did not get the lakeview we reserved 2) Management was supposed to contact me several times and still have not heard from them 3) Spent roughly 4 total hours at the front desk trying to resolve their mistake 4) Stayed during renovations - several leaks in ceiling from rain, including the leak over our table during our complimentry dinner 5) Did not go to beach because they were out of beach tags Seemed to be more of an aggravation rather than a vacation They did finally get us into our room that we reserved...@ 6:30 pm, the night before our 11:00 checkout.
