Disappointing customer service.Posted Dec 31, 2012
Pros: View and position
Cons: Customer service
Location: Fantastic overlooking the Kapelbruke Bridge
We had a confirmed booking for 2 adults and 2 children on arrival we were told that the room that we had was for 2 adults only and it was not possible to house 2 adults and 2 children in the room. We were told it was our problem that we should have read the fine print on the second page of our confirmation.

Great location, nice hotelPosted Oct 4, 2012
Pros: Location, restaurants, cleanliness
Cons: With location comes lots of other people, so a bit noisy
The hotel is in a perfect location. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon and the area to reach the hotel was blocked off. The phone number was wrong. So we drove around and asked and finally found out that there are named car parks. So we found the right one and then walked 3 blocks to the hotel. When we left the area was open and I was able to drive almost to the front door. The hotel is clean and friendly. We had a river view room with a balcony which was heaven. We could watch the world from our room. The back of the hotel is on the walkway of the river with bars and outside restaurants. It is lovely, but at night can be noisy. But they shut down at 11:30pm, then it is silent. The breakfast was a normal good European breakfast (we stayed in 6 different hotels) the breakfast area overlooks the river. There is also a small restaurant in the basement that was great for soup at night. Now I know how to navigate I would certainly stay there again, it was so much fun and right in the middle of the old section. Remember, all European rooms(less than 5 star) have one bottom sheet and a comforter, no top sheet. Rooms are small but I can't expect large rooms in the 500 yr old section of town. the train station is but over a small bridge. Closer than the car park

Great place to stayPosted Jul 22, 2012
Pros: Location was fantastic. Breakfast on the river balcony was great. The hotel supported an Alpenhorn group of 15--we had a concert one evening!
Cons: No early check in--Exhausted and had to leave bags and tour from 10-2. We had cool weather but no AC may be an issue in the hotter months
Location: On the river and had a charming square on the back side. We walked the whole time we were there, but a room with a river view would be a nice splurge.
Great hotel--near train station, on river, free morning breakfast and internet in the room.

Superior location in LucernePosted Sep 21, 2011
The best 2 things about this hotel are its excellent location and its nice breakfast, which we enjoyed on the balcony overlooking the river where one of the historic bridges crosses. Though I'm sure its not a problem most of the year, there is no air-conditioning; and I was too warm to sleep well with the fan that was provided in the room. The room and bathroom were generally very nice and comfortable. However, there were 2 annoying aspects of them: 1)The bathroom light turns on (and off) automatically by a motion detector, which is not good if you need to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, and it stays on too long after you leave the room. 2)Our king-size bed had a sharp corner that we painfully found twice. Because of the arrangement of the room (with storage and refreshment area behind the headboard), the bed is almost centered in the small room.

Small rooms, not much amenities, great location thoughPosted Jun 17, 2010
Tiny rooms, overpriced for the value and very noisy because of the bar next door. It had the tinest TV 10 inch??? that I have ever seen in the room. Very well placed and gives you a good view of the mountains and lake.

Really nice place to stay in LucernePosted Aug 7, 2009
Recommend a lake view. The rooms are a bit cozy and I had some trouble not flooding the bathroom with the shower (user error), but overall a really nice place to stay and I'd do it again. Downside is that check in is at 2pm (2:30 for our room to be ready) and check out is at 11am. So if you stay one night, it's like 200 bucks for much less than 24 hours. Also, neighbors on the balconies can smoke a lot which blows into the room. Fortunately there is a fan provided for this. Really nice place to stay though and if you like to run, it's an awesome city to run through. Decent shopping as well. I loved Lucerne! Oh, and if you go by train, the trains go to Zurich airport nearly every hour and you only need maybe 15 minutes of time to catch your train.
