Room very modern and fine. Shower cubicle was verPosted Oct 18, 2014
Lobby carpet needs replacing. Looks very worn and is smelly. It would be great if smoking could be banned completely. Everywhere smelt of cigarette smoke except the room itself.

Great location for Lucerne.Posted Sep 26, 2014
The hotel is located in the heart of everything without being noisy. The room I booked was essentials only. Very basic and comfortable. No frills, etc. Location is what I was going for and what I definitely was not disappointed with. Would definitely stay there again.

Quiet hotel with Great breakfastPosted Jul 12, 2014
Pros: Hotel with nostalgic atmosphere
Cons: Maintain the great work
Location: Located near central railway station, public transport & the lake. Walking distance to the old town & restaurants.
Walking distance to central railway station. Hotel located away from main street. Great breakfast offered in fine dining style at its sister Hotel Monopol just a few doors away. Helpful & friendly staff.

Unbeatable locationPosted Jul 10, 2014 on Hotels.com
I had only one night to spend in Lucerne and Hotel Alpina suited my needs perfectly. It's right by the train station and a short walk to the old city and the lake. When I arrived on a Saturday morning there was a market going on by the river where I bought delicious bread and cheese, and this was very convenient to the hotel also. At night there is a very cool restaurant/club/bar at the top of the neighboring Hotel Monopol where breakfast is also served for Hotel Alpina guests. The only drawbacks: (1) No air conditioning -- it seems like nowhere in this price range has it and (2) Noise from the street -- make sure to ask for a quiet room! But really it was a very lovely stay.

Comfortable choice for family vacationPosted Jul 8, 2014 on Hotels.com
The Hotel Alpina is a short walk away from the train station, making it a convenient choice for anyone traveling by train. There were many fast food and take-away options available nearby, as well as a grocery store. Additionally, for families traveling with younger children, a park with a nice playground is about a block away from the hotel. The room was comfortable and clean, although the bathroom was a bit on the small side. The hotel staff were courteous and helpful. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet, offered in the neighboring Hotel Monopo. It had plenty of foods to choose from. Very satisfied with our stay, and would definitely use this hotel again if traveling to Lucerne.

a must place to stay for first-timersPosted Jun 10, 2014
Pros: CONVENIENCE is best word to describe the place, walking distance from the train station, metro, convenience stores and landmarks
Cons: The flooring.... it's uneven and it creaks.
Location: Centrally located. Everything was within reach in 5-10min walk. Train stations, metro, groceries and landmarks.
Actually I booked with Hotel Alpina, but upon check in, we were told that we were upgraded to Hotel Monopol. Hotel has the old world ambience but with modern amenities. Room was clean, bed was good & the staff courteous. Had a pleasant stay, will be highly recommended.

Swiss Hotel LucernePosted Jun 2, 2014
Pros: WE liked the location and the breakfast and the large room
Cons: Additional place to put a suitcase would be helpful
Location: It is next to the train station and perfect location to do the boats, trains. etc. You can walk easily to everything in Lucerne.
The room was very clean and we were upgraded from twin to triple which was great as we are sisters and it gave us space. The breakfast next door at the Monopol was fabulous. The staff was helpful. We enjoyed our stay very much.
