a pleasant stay :)Posted Jul 7, 2014
Cons: I dont think the smell comes from restaurant... I did not like that... the room was 101
everything was perfect but the room was right above the restaurant... smelled like grilled pork whole day! had to leave fan on all the time. except that, location good and clean , kind staff. the breakfast was good too, but the lady serving at the restaurant seemed very unprofessional (not to me but to the group of people I think they were indian family total 15 or more .. baby was crying, too many questions, making mess on the floor I understand as i was really annoyed as well but the lady should not behave that way.. saying things in german behind their back but loudly...

Nice hotel in heart of LucernePosted Jul 1, 2014
Nice and clean room. Very good room size. Couldn't hear neighbouring rooms much. Good wifi. No English TV channels. Would recommend hotel. Keep in mind it is on busy area so some nights you may hear loud noises from outside. There is restaurant on main level and they have good breakfast. Would recommend hotel to anyone.

Perfect locationPosted Jun 15, 2014
Pros: Location, cleanliness, and that breakfast was included. Liked that breakfast was included.
Location: Go to the Swiss folklore show at the Stadtkeller - it's fun! The excursion to Mt. Pilatus is great.
I am basing my review on the 2nd room we had, and the fact that the staff were so accommodating, welcoming and friendly. Upon arrival, this hotel is a 5 minute walk from the train station, and we had no issues finding it. The reception staff were very friendly, and had us checked in right away. Our first night, we had a room at the top of the marble staircase that leads from the lobby and restaurant - so the noise echoed all night long. On the plus side, this room did have a large terrace with a partial view of the lake. The next day, we asked if it was possible to switch rooms, and another room was found for us right away, and we were able to move. The second room was much larger than the first and faced the street instead of the lake, which we were not bothered by. It was not very warm during our stay, so we had the window open during the evening, and the room had a fan to keep the room cool. Yes, you are in the city center and the streets are cobblestone, so you will hear early morning deliveries, garbage pick up etc. The hotel was undergoing renovations while we were there, so we had brand new headboards, paint, etc. The rooms were extremely clean, and the hotel even had pillow options if the ones in the room were not suitable for you. There was a safe, lots of closet space, and a Nespresso machine for coffee / tea, which was great. The location is perfect - close to shopping, restaurants, etc.

Very Comfortable, Great BreakfastPosted Apr 20, 2014 on Hotels.com
The hotel is in a great location. It is near lots of good restaurants, shops, and the Chapel Bridge. It's even relatively close to the train station, which was very convenient with heavy luggage. We requested extra pillows from the room and received them at our door within minutes. The breakfast is downstairs in the Italian restaurant. It was typical continental fare plus local meats and cheeses. There was tons of everything and great coffee!

Nice hotel, great locationPosted Apr 9, 2014
at night it was loud because of a group of people leaving a night club... drunk people making noise (not the hotel's mistake). I liked the hotel, great price for what they offered...

Great staff, excellent locationPosted Jan 1, 2014 on Hotels.com
Zum Weissen Kreuz is ideally located in a fantastic area of the altstadt. Members of the staff are extremely nice, enthusiastic and helpful. The hotel, due to its location in the center of the altstadt comes with usual street noise, but that is to be expected and nothing unbearable. My only suggested improvement is the installation of blackout curtains in the rooms. Our room had sheer/thin curtains and white shades that weren't sufficient to block out the bright street lights. It was like trying to sleep with a light on in the room. All things considered, we would certainly stay at this hotel again in the future.

Hot NoisyPosted Jul 24, 2013 on Hotels.com
The single room was small but clean and adequate. Breakfast (included) was quite good. Location was excellent - old city, near the Reuss, the Kapellbrücke, the incredible Saturday morning Bauernmarkt and the Bahnhof. However, I hit a hot spell in Luzern and the room had no A/C. Because the room was so hot, I had to leave the window open, and it was very noisy - noisy on into very late at night.
