Pros: The room was palacial. It was great to have comfortable armchairs and table as well as a huge comfy bed. The bathroom was great.
Cons: Cannot think of anything.
Location: Number 24 bus drops outside hotel. Walks round historic centre/ Mount Pilatus by cog wheel and sail on lake.
We spent 4 nights in Lucerne ond the quality of the hotel enhanced our stay. The staff were all friendly and attentive. The room was superb - it had everything we needed. The view of the lake and Mount Pilatus was breath-taking. We would recommend the hotel unreservedly. .

Fantastic Hotel with wonderful ViewsPosted Oct 20, 2013
Cons: Perhaps the bed was a bit firm but we like a firm bed
Location: Go for walks, day trips to Mt Pilitus or Mt Titlus, golf, tennis, water sports including the hire of a boat from the hotel or just relaxing.
The hotel is out of town but easy to get to on No. 24 bus from the station get off at Hermitage. Buses are very regular both ways. The stay is well worth it. The room was very private with great views of the lake and Mt Pilitus. Staff we're very friendly and helpful, they didn't all speak English but they made sure our needs we're met. The room was spacious, clean and very good toiletries provided. Breakfast and the restaurant meals were of a good standard an we both enjoyed the choices. Would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to relax or be close to other activities in Lucerne.

Loved it!Posted Sep 19, 2013
Pros: There were a lot of fun places to hang out. The view of the lake was amazing!
Cons: The spa had some interesting options but we there was no staff to explain how to use them.
Location: It was easy to take the bus into town. The hotel helped us get tickets to the symphony.
Beautiful location and great hotel. We were upgraded to a wonderful deluxe lake view room without even asking. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was the best we had in the seven hotels we stayed at on our vacation although they were the only ones that charged extra for it.

Breathtaking views of Lake LucernePosted Sep 13, 2013
Pros: Views. Staff. Food.
Cons: The hotel should think about installing airconditioning. Our room was very hot during the day but it was around 30 degrees that week.
Location: Opposite Wagner's house. Easy to get in and out of Lucerne by car, bus or boat.
Don't be put off by the bland exterior when you arrive. Tardis like, it opens up as you walk through the hotel revealing glorious views of Lake Lucerne and is directly opposite Wagner's house. An easy drive if you're coming by car - follow signs to Kussnacht. Alternatively, the 24 bus takes you in and out of town and the lovely staff at the front desk will supply you with bus tickets. There is also a small boat that leaves in the afternoons from the hotel's own jetty. Staff are delightful and the restaurants first rate. We explored other hotels in the region but couldn't find any we liked better. The only downside was no aircon - it was a very hot week when we were there. Also not easy to jump into the lake from the 'beach' unless you're a confident swimmer.

Lovely location with great food.Posted Aug 22, 2013
Pros: Location and restaurant.
Cons: Put air conditioning in the rooms.
Location: Bus into Lucerne with lots of shops. Covered bridges and beautiful architecture. Church. Saphir boat trip is fab. Mr pickwick pub good.
We stayed two nights in August. The room was large, clean and bright with a lovely balcony. The view of the lake from the bath was beautiful and very relaxing. We did not have breakfast but ate dinner in the Baccara restaurant. I had the cod, followed by chocolate mousse and my husband had the fillet steak, followed by tiramisu. Both meals were delicious and would give them 10/10 for this. The waitress was charming, attentive but not overly so. The weather was a little unsettled and not too hot but the room is not air conditioned and became very hot. We opened the door to the balcony but the lake was noisy, with boats banging against the side if their moorings and other general noise. If there was air conditioning the hotel would be almost faultless.

Gorgeous Retreat in LuzernPosted Aug 18, 2013
Pros: Everything - the room decor and beds were comfortable, the balcony and view of the lake were marvelous, and the staff and service were superb.
Cons: No central air conditioning, but the balcony door and windows tilt open from the top and a fan was provided. Lake breezes + fan made the temp OK.
Location: All points of interest are within easy reach via bus directly across the street, taxi, or the Rutli boat that puts into the Hermitage dock.
The Hermitage is a stunningly beautiful luxury property just the right distance from tourist-mad Luzern. Only a short 10-minute bus or taxi ride from the Luzern train station (it's around the bay away from the city center), it seems a world away from the crowds and chaos. The hotel's rooms overlook the lake and hotel grounds. It's wonderfully quiet and serene. You can hear the soft lapping of the waves from the lake against the dock at night from your balcony. Get the premium rooms in the main building for a full balcony looking onto the lake. The rooms in the new building have "Juliet" balconies - railings over the sliding glass doors - from which you can stand and look onto the lake, but there is no real balcony to sit on and have coffee or wine and enjoy the peace and fantastic view directly onto Mt. Pilatus. The 2 buildings are connected by a beautiful lobby bar area - enclosed as well as a wonderful patio - with a staircase leading down to the grounds and boat dock. Two restaurants serve delicious, beautifully presented meals - a formal dining room and a terrace level with an outdoor grill and salad bar. The Hermitage experience is not inexpensive - but it's well worth the money. Be advised that the Hermitage hosts small conferences and meetings, so there are many business travelers there, as well as families.

EXCELLENT HOTEL but expensive!Posted Aug 15, 2013
Pros: Super friendly bartender! The grounds were fantastic!
Cons: Should get rid of the carpet in the room and switch to a hard floor. More elegant expensive feel
Location: Luzern is an amazing city close and easy to get to by bus. Prob a 3 mile walk/jog or bike ride away.
This hotel is right on the lake...your room opens up to face it. The rooms are very spacious! I was pleasantly suprised! The bed super comfortable. The only negative would have been that there was carpet and I think the room would have been better with tile/wood or some other hard flooring. The bar and food were all amazing! Expensive but everything in Luzern is expensive! It is a bit away from the city but the bus system was easy to navigate and the front desk was very helpful in getting us our tickets.

Great option in Lucerne if you want peace and quiePosted Aug 11, 2013
Pros: The views, the service, the food.
Cons: ACs in the room
Location: Great location next to the lake. We drove around the lake and got some amazing views.
The hotel is outside the city but close enough to walk (long walk). The views from the hotel are magnificent and we were lucky to get great weather (beach weather and being next to the lake they were a lot of guest taking care of this laying down in their bathing suits next to the lake). The restaurant is very good but expensive but everything seems to be in Switzerland. We had dinner, lunch and breakfast and everything was tasty and service was reasonably good. The rooms are very nice and big. They come with all the amenities and the bathroom has a double sink. The shower is open to the bathroom which would make it uncomfortable for people traveling together that are not couples but they probably have rooms planned for this situation, The TV has several channels in English which is a plus and more since I'm writing this review in the living room of our room of a 5 star hotel in Paris where they only have three channels in English and two (CNN Europe and BBC) transmit basically news about Europe, Africa and Asia (the big news right now are the election in Mali?) and the other one is C NBC. Our only complain was the lack of AC but they put some little fans that helped but probably the AC are not necessary 240 days a year The hotel is very nice about giving free apples and candy all over the hotel. They were also very nice with our 3 year old. They gave her a nice welcoming gift when we arrived

Good for special occasion or short break.Posted Jul 9, 2013
Pros: Quiet location but easy access to city.
Cons: Rooms were hot but if we opened the windows the midges on the lake came in.
Location: All rooms have lake views across to Mount Pilatus and up and down the lake, Bus stops right outside the hotel.
Excellent location, 10 mins from Luzern by bus. We were there over the Luzern Festival and despite the city being busy and fireworks late we did not hear any noise, but could see the firework display across the lake. Easy access to city and local transport. Rooms good size and food very good. Although buffet breakfast seemed expensive at approx £17 each, there was so much choice that we did not need anything during the day except the fruit they provide on the ground floor corridor, so saved £10 per day on lunch/snacks. The 4 mark for cleanliness and staff was because the bedroom floor was not swept on at least one day and flannel not left, on two days the maid forgot to replace the coffee capsules so we had to ring down on three occasions to reception. Overall a very good experience. It was our 40th wedding anniversary and we went for 8 nights. We would not normally spend this much on a short break, but we both feel it was well the money. Hotels in Switzerland are expensive but looking at the location and price it was very good value. We took a taxi from Luzern station on arrival, cost £20 for 10 minutes. Do not bother. Bus no 24 starts right outside station, plenty of room for cases, pay the driver £2 each. All buses have destination screens, wait until 'Hermitage' is shown, press stop button and alight right outside hotel front door.
