Great location

Posted Oct 18, 2014
The Hotel Milan Speranza Au Lac in Stresa was in a great location. We came by bus from the airport in Milan and the bus stops right in front of the hotel. The hotel is across the street from the Ferry Station and of course the beautiful lake. Behind the hotel is the cute old town center of Stresa. Lots of shops, restaurants and fun just wandering around. It's an older hotel but in excellent condition. It has a very nice breakfast room and the food was good also. It had a good assortment of breakfast items. The staff at the hotel was very nice and also helpful. We had a balcony, not necessarily with a view, but it was nice to have the balcony. I had paid for the room on Expedia when I booked it. I hoped all would go well with that and I will say that it worked out perfectly. The info indicated that I'd have to pay a city room tax with cash and we did in all the Italy hotels, but it was explained and expected. All in all, the stay at the Hotel Milan Speranza was an excellent experience. Would recommend this hotel.

Pros: Location
Location: Walking the boardwalk, touring the lobbies of other hotels nearby, enjoying wine in those and the pleasure of good restaurants nearby.
Average hotel, with a rather small room and using the bathroom for two was a negotiation for space. Pricy for what we got.

Happy experience

Posted Oct 8, 2014
Pros: Comfortable, well appointed room. Huge bath sheets. Efficient, courteous staff. Lovely buffet breakfast.
Cons: Everything was entirely satisfactory
Location: Frequent boats to Barromean Islands. Local markets Stresa in Fridays, Luino on Wednesdays, Cannobio on Sunday's.
We spent a happy week in the Hotel Experanza Milan au Lac late September/early October. The hotel is well situated opposite the boat station and close to restaurants and shops. Stresa is a charming small town.

Nice hotel near Landing Stage

Posted Jul 30, 2014
We have stayed at this hotel before, the hotel has a wonderful charming feel. The staff are all friendly and good at their job. Rooms are a nice size we had a room with a balcony with a view of the lake. Possible to sit on balcony with a drink at the end of the day. Food at breakfast was plentiful and of good quality . Free internet available, plus computer for guests to use in reception area. Food and service in restaurant again was excellent well presented and very enjoyable. We are thinking of booking again what better recommendation could we give.

Oh those bells

Posted Jul 3, 2014 on Hotels.com
Excellent staff, food and service. Room edequate size. The negatives were 1. the comfort of the bid Two singles pushed together and a bit hard for my liking. 2. Rapidly changing temperature in hot water making showering uncomfortable at times. 3. The nearby church bells are very close and loud during the day

Great boutique hotel but a few minor issues

Posted Jun 27, 2014
Pros: Breakfast and staff
Cons: Needs updated plumbing and refrigerators in rooms.
Location: Stresa and the ferries are at your door step!
I have stayed at this hotel before and chose to return to it. It is a boutique hotel situated right on Laggo Magiore. Stresa is a very walkable town. The rooms and beds are typically small by North American standards. The staff is excellent! Breakfast is superb! However even with a costlier room there was no refrigerator. Moreover the plumbing needs updating. As you shower the water temperature constantly fluctuates.

Very Enjoyable Stay

Posted Jun 24, 2014
Pros: The atmosphere, position and pleasant staff of the hotel and its convenient car parking arrangements
The hotel is perfectly located for easy access on foot to Stresa and its ferry terminal, and its rooms are surprisingly quiet given this central position. It also has an excellent and easily accessible (by road and on foot) arrangement for parking your car free. The front desk staff are very helpful and happy to advise on local sights. The dining room staff are similarly welcoming and helpful - we had an excellent dinner there, but there are masses of other restaurants near-by. A room with a lake view is essential to take advantage of the hotel's prime position, although do not expect large verandas for sitting out.

Great shuttle to the airport.

Posted Jun 2, 2014
Pros: Close to the airport; very clean and comfortable! Very good breakfast - even included scrambled eggs and bacon!
Cons: Would have liked a better light for reading.
Location: It's close to the airport, but not much else around. Be sure to check out the great pizza place, Samarcanda Pizzeria nearby. Great calzones!
Easy check-in/checkout. Comfortable beds and pillows and very clean. There is no full service restaurant on-site, but there is one at a nearby hotel and a great pizzeria nearby. Large buffet breakfast on site. Great shuttle service to the airport.

Stayed in Speranza

Posted May 21, 2014 on Hotels.com
Good location; spacious room with great view over Lago Maggiore; comfortable beds. A bit disappointed with Stresa itself: attractive enough in scenic area but rather limited. Many excursions and coach tours.
