Home Town Hotel

This was not a 5 star hotel by any means, however if you need a clean, inexpensive bright room right off the highway this is your place. I found the Owner / desk clerk to be helpful and very courteous. Even though she was not born a southerner, I still could feel that hospitality I expect when we travel. The continental breakfast would have been better if the Sunday clerk was more of a self-starter and did not have to be asked more than once for items that should have been out on the bar. Perhaps the owners may want to limit this man to weeknight shifts so that he is not exposed to the customers too much. He could be bad for business.

Would not recommend this hotel to my worst enemy. It was a dump. The furniture looked like it had been chewed by dogs, cigarette burns everywhere, bed sloped, bathroom was disgusting. Looked like the managers or owners did not care and have not put a dime into it for a lot of years. Do not let the pictures on the website fool you. Sleeping in the car and showering at a truck stop would have been much better and cheaper!

HOTELS.COM BOOKED ME IN A SMOKING ROOM WHEN I ASKED FOR NON SMOKING. THE MANAGER OF THE HOTEL WAS NOT WILLING TO HELP US OUT WITHOUT RAISING THE PRICE OF THE ROOM AN ADDITIONAL $108. HE HAD NON SMOKING ROOMS, THEN LIED TO HOTELS.COM WHEN THEY TRIED TO STRAIGHTEN OUT THE PROBLEM.THE LONGER WE TALKED THE HIGHER HE RAISED THE PRICE. THE ROOM WAS DIRTY, BEDS WERE LIKE SLEEPING ON CONCRETE. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND STAYING THERE!

Microtel Greensboro-Very disappointing

We would omit this hotel from your program. We arrived to find they had our reservation but were trying to say that hotels.com credit card was being denied and that we would have to pay the rate for that day. I told him that we had prepaid and would not do that. He then instructed us to call hotels.com to get another credit card number. Your representative told me to not pay any more money and to have the hotel rep call the 888 number. The hotel handed me their phone and told me to make the call which I did. When your rep asked for the hotel ID number, I then handed the phone back to the man and he proceeded to lay the phone down and was helping other customers who were coming in. I asked him to please pick up the phone because I did not want your rep to hang up. He then told me that he was instructed to take care of the customers at which time I reminded him that we were customers too. The owner then came from the back room and picked up the phone and we could hear your rep repeatedly tell him to try the credit card number again. He argued that he already had about 4 times and wasn't going to try again. Finally after about 20 pleas of "Sir, please try the number again" he did and it worked. We firmly believe that he was trying to get more money out of us since we had gotten such a good rate from you. After he hung up with your rep, he looks at us and says"haha, you think you save money going through someone else, but you actually are paying more." which of course made no sense. Beyond trying to be screwed by the owner, the hotel itself was very subpar-holes in carpet, thin towels with stains, patched job in shower around shower head, holes in screens, etc. I just felt creepy and hardly slept all night . Breakfast was prepackaged bagels and muffins and bananas. We will NEVER return to this location and seriously doubt, we'll ever stay at a Microtel after this experience.
