“Very Satisfied”

Very happy with my stay. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The room was clean. The bed was comfortable. Air conditioner did the job and kept room cool. Within walking distance is at least 5 restaurants - one being right next door to the motor inn. The only negative was that the air conditioner was somewhat loud when it kicked in during the night.

Must see

The drive up Whiteface Mt. on the Veterans Memorial Highway toll road is a must see. It is the most spectacular road I have driven on and the views from the top are magnificent.

Dining

There is a nice little intimate Italian restaurant called La Bella within walking distance down the road to the east. It is dinner only and opens at 4PM. There is also a breakfast lunch restaurant right next door called McKenzie's Grille.

“The area was nice.”

The hotel was nice, clean and quiet. The setting was beautiful. They could have use some newer bedding, the mattress was too hard and the pillows too soft and the fitted sheets didn't fit the mattress. The restaurant on the property was great - service and food. Next time we would stay in Lake Placid.

“Saranac Lake great place to stay”

The staff was very friendly and helpful. They suggested good places to eat and how to get there. The hotel was clean and the grounds taken care of. The room was very clean, big, and comfortable. A great place to stay and did not break the bank.

“friendly staff”

The front desk staff were extremely friendly. We mentioned we were in town for hiking and they gave us lots of good recommendations and tips. The room itself was average. Clean and comfortable but nothing to wow you. Went to the restaurant associated with the hotel. Standard food, but again the waitstaff was very helpful. Had some dietary requirements and they went out of their way to make sure the food met them.

“All at a reasonable price”

We traveled to the North Country to do some snowshoeing. The hotel was conveniently located to trails; eateries were all within walking distance. The bonus came when we asked about local trails and discovered Bill could direct us to just what we wanted in an outdoor experience. All at a reasonable price.

“Warmth in cold Saranac Lake in January”

We didn't expect much from a not so new ex-Comfort Inn but we were pleasantly surprised by the warm welcome we received. There's nothing fancy going on here but the staff is outgoing and very helpful. We were here for a hockey tourney & our son had a blast with his teammates. I only wish there was more of a lobby or meeting area for people to hang out in, but that's the way the hotel is set up. Front desk. Rooms. Basic pool. Clean. Friendly. No more, no less.

Area recommendations

All of it. Saranac Lake is terrific & if you need more, Lake Placid is just down the road.

Dining

Terrific Mexican restaurant Casa Del Sol, right next door. We were so tired we got it to go. Excellent soup! Also highly recommend Blue Moon Cafe. Resonable prices and everything is fresh and homemade. We loved their Irish oatmeal w/fresh blueberries, Eggs Saranac, pancakes & old fashioned bunt cake. Good coffee too.
