Incredibly disappointing and frustrating when you are forced to take a shower in luke warm water. Front desk attendant said it was because everyone was taking a shower at the same time. Not true because it was 10 am. Most patrons were already out the door by 9. Lame excuse. I would not stay at this property again.

We are very sorry about that Edward. Unfortunately, we did have an issue with the hot water yesterday. Volume was a factor for sure, but it is being addressed.

This place is well worth the money. I stayed with clients while running a bird photography tour. We leave early in the morning and wanted a place to eat and convene to go over the days shooting. They serve a nice breakfast that starts at 6:30 with plenty of options. The coffee was great and it really helps fuel up for a long day in the field in the snow and cold. The hotel is basic but clean and the staff is super friendly and helpful. It is well worth the money and I consider it a great value. My clients felt the same. They even use pet friendly salt and as a dog owner and lover I really appreciate that.

Weekend Stay
Husband and I had a very pleasant stay on our impromptu weekend getaway. We were happy with our king room with a small sofa, desk, microwave and refrigerator and a real keurig coffe maker. Breakfast was nice each morning with different foods each day. Everthing was clean--the lobby, pool area, hallways and room, and smelled nice. Only two small complaints, the pool was very cold, so we only went in once, and the mattress in our room wasn't the most comfortable. All in all, we would definitely stay here again.

The staff was very friendly Room was not very quiet. Breakfast was fine, eggs, meat, pancakes, coffee, etc. TV stations were plentiful. Bedding was comfortable.

Good location, easy 15 minute drive to Lake Placid at a much lower price than hotels in that area. Good dining options downtown on main street.

If you are looking for a quiet and clean no frills place to stay a night or two while enjoying the daytime hiking, canoeing and photographing the beautiful Saranac Lake area, this is it. A courteous bilingual front desk person even suggested me some hiking places nearby. Don't forget to get your free American breakfast before stepping out, unless you like McDonald's, wich I'm OK with. The building could use better signaling to direct guests staying at the second floor of a building that seems to lack a guest's elevator. I returned to the front desk after failing to find my way to my second floor room. I was directed to take the stairs at the end of either wing. One good thing about using the stairwell entrances is that you can access the building using your key card from the outside without having to go thru the lobby. If you have any physical disability, I suggest you ask for a first floor room. It's a very good basic hotel.

The staff was very accommodating. We rented a room (with dog option) and there was no additionnal charge for our dog. We felt welcomed. The breakfast had a good variety of food (cereals, toast, eggs, bacon, yogourt, pancakes, muffins, hard boilled eggs, etc). The location is good (15 min from Lake Placid and 2 min from many good restaurants).

Great location for exploring Saranac, Lake Placid, Lake Champlain, etc. Staff was nice and responsive. Too bad pool was not open. Grounds crew could do a bit better. Stone wall was partially collapsed, fire pit area would be nice if some wood was readily available to enjoy a fire. Older facility needs a little more of a facelift.

We are a family of five with children aged 8 to 14. As we moved in to our room, we were confronted with the pungent smell of marijuana in the hallway and/or from a nearby room. What we find most disappointing was that sometime during the night, a hotel guest had vomited both outside our room and in the stairwell adjacent to our room. When we reported this to the front desk, we were underwhelmed by the response, “There’s a sports team staying in the hotel.” There were minimal attempts to clean the offending areas. We paid a lot of money for a one night stay and found our experience unsatisfactory. We will likely not consider Best Western for future hotel stays and we will be sharing our poor experience with Best Western, as well as our our friends and family.

It was very over priced for the quality of the hotel. It was dated and not super well kept. The carpets felt wet, beds were hard and uncomfortable. There was no fan in the bathroom so it turns into a steam room when you shower. Little fixes could make a big difference.
