Good Facility Close to Restaurants and Good View

Posted Jul 31, 2015
Pros: Good Location
Cons: Attached restaurant, Mackenzies, should be open for dinner.
Location: All recreational activities available - hiking, boating, etc.
The staff were friendly and helpful. The facility was reasonably good and was located on the lake front (although not many rooms had a lake view). The room was clean, spacious and comfortable. It is close to restaurants.

Saranac Lake Visit

Posted Jul 24, 2015
Pros: The location, accessibility and quiet room.
Cons: It would be nice to have fresh coffee available in the lobby in the mornings.
Location: Visit: Adirondack Interpretive Center, Camp Colby Environmental Education Center, Paul Smith College, Lake Placid, Lake Clear. Lots to see!
This was a fine hotel for us, as I was traveling with an elderly parent. The accessible room was perfect; handicapped parking made it easy for us to go in and out. The little restaurant adjacent to the hotel was very nice for breakfast. The hotel is an older facility, but well maintained. Wewere very familiar with the area and visiting friends nearby, so it was most convenient.

Hotel with out breakfast!

Posted Jul 22, 2015
Pros: Cleanliness, room temperature and comfortable bed.
Cons: Include a small amount of quick breakfast in the lobby.
Location: Basically you to have a means of transportation to get around there. It's pretty much far from the nice places to see.
The hotel is fine, it's clean and comfortable I slept like a baby. The air conditioning is good. It's cold enough to curl up on the bed. Except that they don't have free breakfast . I mean just some donuts, muffins, coffee, hot chocolate or orange juice that you can grab before you start your day would be nice and appreciative. Just set it up in one corner in the lobby would not occupy too much space. I think the management is giving a huge favor for the restaurant next to it. So that guess would not have any choice to get a quick breakfast . that's a cheap trick.

Pros: Restaurant close by, king size bed, clean room, we kept the "do not disturb" sign out for the whole stay and they called to offer cleaning.
Cons: As I said above, a "what you need to know" handout that includes the hotel map. The clerk can circle your room number.
Location: Plenty of restaurants, the VIC at Paul Smith's College, the Wild Center, Lake Flower, Saranac Lake. Too much to fit into 100 characters.
When I checked in, the clerk rattled off about twenty facts about the hotel--how to get to the room, how the key card worked, about the laundry room, the pool, blah blah blah, and somewhere in the avalanche of info was something about breakfast being served from 6 AM to 2 PM. The room was plenty clean enough, the bed was king size (nice to have that extra room, being used to queen size), and had more pillows than I'd ever seen on just one bed (5 head pillows, 2 decorative pillows and one tubular pillow). Typical for us, there was the learning curve in the shower, steepened by the fact that the hot/cold markings around the main faucet indicated "hot" when the dial pointed to the right and "cold" on the left, when the opposite was true. I waited about 2 minutes for the water to warm up before I tried turning the dial further around to the side marked "cold." I don't hold this against them--this is typical for me. There was a restaurant a few steps away from the hotel. This must have been what the clerk was talking about when he mentioned breakfast, because there was no breakfast in the hotel. It would have been very helpful if all the info had been printed on a fact sheet that we could read at our own pace instead of hearing it all just once and being expected to retain it all as if we had perfect memories or we'd recorded the whole spiel. Still, the room was fine, but it was more than we needed.

Comfortable hotel

This hotel is in a beautiful area and a good location with restaurants within walking distance. The bed was comfortable and the room very clean. Our room was near the stairs and we could hear the door noise. Otherwise it was quiet.

DON'T!!! JUST DON'T!!!

Posted Jun 16, 2015
Pros: NOTHING!!!!
Cons: The rooms.... HORRIBLE.
It gives me serious concern that people rate this 4.1 out of 5.0. SERIOUSLY??????? The room smelled dank and moldy. The bathroom seat was coming loose. The tub didn't drain. I called the maintenance guy who couldn't fix it, because the lever that opened the stopper had broken. It was too late and I was too tired to ask for a room change. My son, who travels with me often and stays at Hampton Inn, was quite disappointed. His first comment was, "it smells like dirty socks." IT WAS JUST AWFUL. Don't do it. Don't. I paid $130 for this hotel during Lake Placid marathond weekend. I found out that it normally goes for $99. I'd rather pay $40 more for Hampton Inn. It didn't even include breakfast.

It was comfortable and welcoming.

Posted Jun 1, 2015
Location: A little ways away from the center of town, but several restaurants in walking distance.
We spent a relaxing evening here after a long day of travel and work.
