Amazing staff, great viewsPosted Sep 6, 2014
I had a fantastic experience at this resort. The restaurants were great, the staff were friendly and accomodating, and my room was very undervalued. I would have paid twice the amount for my experience! This will be the only place i stay when i visit lake placid.

Just Plain AwesomePosted Sep 5, 2014
Everything was excellent from day one. The staff was incredible.Everyone from reception to the restaurant and bar staff were great, friendly and very helpful. I have already recommended High Peaks to many friends and my son and I WILL be back at least once a year. We both had a great time and ownership should be very proud of how genuine and friendly their employees are. Thanks again and see you guys soon, eh! (The Canucks).

great location, great pricePosted Sep 2, 2014
Pros: Easy access to main street, but quiet.
Cons: breakfsat service is very slow. A buffet would be better maybe.
Location: at the end of main street within easy walk of all the stores and restaurants
we were very pleasantly surprised with the hotel. Very nice bathroom, balcony, large, modern room and v comfy beds. Free parking, and internet, and pet friendly. We would definitely go back.

Great area to visitPosted Aug 31, 2014
Pros: Location is great.
Lots to see and do in the beautiful area around Lake Placid. This hotel is nicely located at the end of the main street.

False advertising- bewarePosted Aug 28, 2014
There are limited rooms with views -We were not so lucky. Never got lake view as promised. Limited kayaks - first come first served- we waited for hours, never could get 4 for my family and gave up. Very unhappy - never again! Rebooked elsewhere paying for both rooms at the same time- otherwise a ruined vacation.

Scam?Posted Aug 28, 2014
Booked the hotel through Expedia. When we arrived, we are sent across the street to the "newly renovated Lake House with a great view". The view was nice, but the room was not. We booked because the price was very good for this particular hotel. Obviously, the price was too good. If this isn't a scam - offer low price for the main hotel, but give customers a cheaper room when they arrive - it seems like one. Buyer beware I suppose. An unpleasant experience overall.

Anniversary tripPosted Aug 27, 2014
Over all, it was OK. Certainly not worth the money. Wanted this trip to be special for our anniversary. Thought maybe the hotel would do something special for us. I had heard that maybe there would be a bottle of wine in our room, like they had done for someone else in the past. But there wasn't anything. I specifically requested a room that had a straight on full view of the lake, and our view of the lake was going out onto the deck and leaning over the railing to see the lake. The bathroom was about 1/4 the size of the photo on the website. So we were disappointed in that too. But The bed was very comfortable, with plenty of pillows. Breakfast at Dancing Bears was good. Dinner at Smoke Signals just down the street was Fabulous!

Nice hotel in a good locationPosted Aug 22, 2014
Cons: Outdoor pool to cold
Location: Shops and restaurants
Stayed for a couple days with my family. Hotel is right in town so you can walk to the shops and many restaurants. We were in the main building so our balcony had a view of the pool with the lake visible. The main building is not directly on the lake. The room was clean, pretty nice for the price. The bathroom is modern with a nice shower. The outdoor pool was too cold for me but the indoor pool was warm. There were a lot of kids so I would not choose this place for a romantic get away. Overall we were happy with our choice.
